Punjab schedule of upcoming movie Aate Di Chidi is wraps up shooting  Star cast to leave for the next schedule in Canada on 25^th May 2018

 Punjabi cinema is going through its golden period where it is touching new heights every day. There was a time when the budgets were small for Punjabi movies and the shoot was done only in nearby regions and the concepts were common. But these days the projects are going really big. Most of the films are shooting in foreign lands. Adding in this league, the upcoming Punjabi movie ‘Aate Di Chidi’ has also completed one schedule of the film’s shoot. This movie is going to hit the theatres on 19th October 2018. The shoot is happening at full pace. Whole unit shot the first part of the film in India, particularly in Punjab. Next part will be shot in abroad. Pollywood’s queen, Neeru Bajwa will be seen playing the lead role opposite Bamb Jatt, Amrit Mann. Apart from them the stellar star cast includes Gurpreet Ghuggi, B.N. Sharma, Karmjit Anmol, Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi, Gurpreet Bhangu, Anmol Verma, Nisha Bano and Harby Sangha in pivotal roles. Aate di Chidi is directed by Rabb Da Radio and Sardar Mohammad-fame Harry Bhatti. This project is produced by Teg Productions and Charanjit Singh Walia.

    Talking about this first leg of experience, the leading lady of the film, Neeru Bajwa said, “You’re not clear of everything right at the beginning of the film but as the shoot unfolds you start to feel the connection with the story, the character and it becomes an important part of your life. The first schedule was an amazing experience and we are looking forward to the next schedule. The environment of the set is always so friendly and home-like. Everybody was so professional and Harry Bhatti was sure about what he wants from each of his characters. I just hope that the same ambience, the friendly vibe will continue to the next schedule also.”

At this moment, Amrit Mann quoted, “Being on set is an amazing feeling but working as a hero is even greater, there are no words to explain it. I am so blessed that with just my second film I have got the chance to work with the hit machine of Pollywood, Neeru Bajwa and the man with the most conscious vision, Harry Bhatti. Working with both of them is like you have completed an acting course. Since only one segment is completed I will say I have cleared the first semester. I am too thrilled for the Canada shoot and I am sure this will be even more amazing. The captain of the ship, Harry Bhatti said, “This is just my third film, but within one year I feel people have started expecting a lot from me. So before the shoot of this film I was nervous. Now as the first part of the shooting is over, I am satisfied that my vision is in safe hands and I am happy that I have made a right choice for the characters. Each one of them has totally molded themselves in their roles. Working with Neeru Bajwa and Amrit Mann is an awesome experience. All the preparations are done for Canada. I just wish that with the blessings of Waheguru, this part will also be a success.”  Aate di Chidi will hit the theatres on 19^th October 2018.

Elante brings theatrical adaptation of ‘Daddy’ to Tricity

Elante Mall, the region’s favourite hub for shopping and entertainment, today struck an emotional chord with the audience with a theatrical adaptation of celebrated filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's 1989 classic “Daddy”, moving the viewers to tears with its powerful narrative. Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter Pooja Bhatt, who had made her acting debut with “Daddy”, set the tone for the play with a heart-to-heart conversation on why the film and its theatrical adaptation mean the world to them in the light of the relationship they share. Directed by Dinesh Gautam and scripted by Mahesh Bhatt himself, the play featured Delhi-based actor and Mahesh Bhatt’s protégé Imran Zahid in the lead role, which was enacted by Anupam Kher in the original film. Zahid has also played the lead role in the stage adaption of another Bhatt classic, “Arth”. The father-daughter duo, who were moved beyond words as they watched their own characters come alive on the stage, described the play, which also featured some stirring songs from the film sung by Talit Aziz, as “moving and sincere”. The film was based on Mahesh Bhatt's battle with alcoholism and his turbulent and complex relationship with his elder daughter Pooja. One of the filmmaker's best friends, Anupam Kher, had played him on screen. Brilliantly adapted for the stage, the play tugged at the hearts of the audience with its raw human emotions and stark realities of life and captivated them with its memorable dialogues and compelling storyline. While generally plays inspire movies, in this case it was the other way round. The film and the play are based on the story of a girl, Pooja, who has no recollection of her mother and father and is told that her father had passed away. Eventually, she meets her father and makes him overcome alcoholism. The story revolves around the complex relationship between Pooja and her father Anand Sareen, a former music legend who she had not met since birth as she was brought up by her grandparents following the untimely and mysterious death of her mother. When Pooja meets her father, she realises that he is not the monster her grandfather had made him out to be, but was undoubtedly an alcoholic who badly needed help. Curing her father of alcoholism then becomes the sole mission of Pooja’s life. The play “Daddy”, first staged at New Delhi in 2014, 25 years after the release of the film, had also premiered in Pakistan at the International Theatre Festival 2015 organised by the National Academy of Performing Arts, Karachi. “Daddy” happens to be the fourth theatrical adaptation of Mahesh Bhatt’s films, the previous three being “The Last Salute”, “Arth” and “Trial of Errors”. It was actor Imran Zahid who had come up to Bhatt with the idea of adapting his films into plays. Commenting on Elante’s initiative to stage the poignant and moving play based on one of Mahesh Bhatt’s best known works, Elante Mall Executive Director Mr Anil Malhotra said, “It has been our constant endeavour to give our patrons something new every time they come to Elante. Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today inaugurated open air gym in Water Works colony, Sector 39, Chandigarh in presence of Smt. Gurbax Rawat, area councilor, Sh. Krishan Pal Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture Division and officials of MCC. While addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said that the Municipal Corporation is providing open air gyms in every park throughout the city to facilitate the local residents. He said that keeping in view the health of employees residing in the water works colony, the MCC has provided this open air gym near to their doorstep.

   The area councilor, Smt. Gurbax Rawat said that with the provision of these gyms in the city people can do exercise as and when they get time and are very useful for those, who generally avoid to go to the gym centres because of heavy charges. 

     She said that total cost of the open air gym at water works colony comes around Rs. 3.5 lacs including provision of latest equipments i.e. Push Chair, Sub Board Functions, Space Walker, Seated Pedal Trainer, Wab Board, Elliptical Cross Trainer, Parallel Bars, Taiji Wheel, Riding Trainer and Stepper.

Under, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India, New Delhi, Gram Swaraj programme,  Aajeevika Diwas was celebrated on today at Govt. Industrial Training Institute Sector 28 C Chandigarh. Shri Sachin Rana, IAS, Director-cum-Special Secretary, Technical, UT Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest on this auspicious occasion who inaugurated the event, addressed the gathering and distributed the certificates to trainees in the presence of Principal, staff, students and dignitaries of various local organizations and industries. 

  In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the details of Gram Swaraj Aajeevika Diwas celebration and benefits of various schemes launched by GOI to the trainees, students and society. Shri M.L. Rana, Principal of the institution in his address welcome the Chief Guest, Guest of Honours, dignitaries of various local organizations and industries, media, staff and students. He also expressed sincere thanks to all attending this event by sparing valuable time out of their busy schedule. All organizers press and print media were also thanked by him. More than 200 trainees and staff attended the event.  During this one day celebration, the

The Acting Chief Justice, Hon’ble Mr Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal has issued a roster for hearing of cases by division and single benches in the High Court. 

The Hon'ble judges sitting in Hon'ble division will now singly sit for taking up single bench cases. As per the roster, all RSA' s and civil writ petitions filed upto the year 2000 and which are pending will be taken up for regular hearing by Hon'ble the Acting Chief Justice and Hon'ble Mr Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa.

Initiatives have been taken for expeditious hearing of the cases as per the roster. Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice, Hon’ble Mr Justice Arun Pali, Hon'ble Mr Justice Amit Rawal and Hon'ble Mr Justice Anil Kshetarpal will take up on priority basis RSA's filed upto the year 2016 for the expeditious disposal of the long pending cases.

सभी ग्रामीण आपका ध्यान आकर्षित करना चाहते है कि जबसे यूटी बनी है तभी से प्रशासन लाल डोरा के बाहर छोटे-छोटे प्लाटों की रजिस्ट्री करता आ रहा है, यह जानते हुए भी की इतने छोटी जगह पर खेती-बाड़ी नहीं हो सकती है। लाल डोरा के बाहर हर किसी प्रकार का निर्माण अवैध है लेकिन इसके बावजूद यह सब कुछ होता रहा और प्रशासनिक अधिकारी सोते रहे। ग्रामीण आज यह पूछ रहे है की :-

1. अगर छोटे प्लाटों में खेती-बाड़ी नहीं हो सकती है तो इनकी रजिस्ट्रीया क्यों की गयी?

2. जब लोग इन प्लाटों पर मकान बना रहे थे, तब निर्माणों को उसी समय क्यों नहीं रोका गया?

3. जब मकान बनकर तैयार हो गए तब बिजली-पानी के कनेक्शन क्यों दिए गए?

4. यदि यह सब कुछ अवैध था, तो प्रशासन ने यहाँ रहने वालों के वोट, राशन कार्ड, आधार कार्ड क्यों बनवाये?

5. ये सारी मूलभूत सुविधाएँ देने के बाद क्या यह नहीं समझा जाये कि इन बसे हुए लोगों को मान्यता दे दी गई है?

प्रशासन खुद कुम्भकर्णी नींद सोता रहा और आज उन्हें कोई नैतिक अधिकार नहीं है कि खून पसीने की कमाई से बनाये गरीबों के मकान ढहाए जाए जो  की उनके साथ धक्काशाही, अन्याय और अत्याचार हो रहा है और इसे तुरंत रोका जाए। साथ ही इसका स्थाई समाधान किया जाए|

    महोदय  अगर यह सब अवैध निर्माण होता रहा है तो समय- समय पर रहते सम्बंधित अधिकारी कहा थे? उनकी जवाबदेही तय कर उनके खिलाफ भी आपराधिक मामला दर्ज किया जाए, जिन्होंने यह सब होने दिया।

The students of Special Cell, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh visited the School Library on 4^th May, 2018, with the Special Educator Ms. Geeta Bajaj. The Librarian Ms. Anju Verma welcomed them to the Library and briefed them about the types of books and the collection available in the library. She also informed them about the Issue and Return policy of the library and encouraged them to read the books of their interest.

 Several short answer type questions were asked from the students to reinforce the topic. Such visits go a long way to enhance the interest of the students in the library and also make them feel an integral part of the society.

The selected members also took an oath to abide by the school rules in carrying out the responsibilities conferred to them. "The contribution of Shiv Kumar Batalvi to the literary scenario of Punjab is unmatched and unparalleled and would remain etched in the golden words because they have left indelible impressions on the sands of time." These views were expressed by the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu yesterday late evening at the Punjab Kala Bhawan on the occasion of ' BIRHA DA SULTAN-A Musical tribute to Shiv Kumar Batalvi'. The minister said that the mesmerizing words penned by Shiv Batalvi echo everywhere and every soul can relate to them as they have deep connection with each emotion of human life.

Divulging more, the minister said that the Punjab's history is replete with those who have contributed immensely to the beauty of its literature and now, the Punjab Kala Parishad would take a lead in keeping alive their memory by installing statues of 5 such eminent personalities. He also said that this novel beginning is proposed to be made from 6^th May i.e. the death anniversary of Shiv Batalvi. The minister further said that Shiv Batalvi would always be with us in the form of his songs. On the occasion, prominent singer Rinku Kalia regaled the audience with her par excellence rendition of the songs penned by Shiv Batalvi with some of them being 'Ik kudi jihda naam muhabbat gum hai,' 'Mayein ni Mayein mein ik shikra yaar banaya', 'Bhatthi waaleye chamber diye daaliye, peeran da paraga bhunn de', 'Ajj din chareya tere rang warga', 'Mainu tera shabab lai baitha' and 'Mere dilan deya mehrama'. The better half of Shiv Batalvi- Mrs. Aruna Shiv Batalvi and Prof Kuldeep Kaur Tiwana, Wife of Late Prof Rajpal Singh were honoured on the occasion by Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu and the Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Padamshri Dr. Surjit Patar. Dr. Satinder Sartaaj, noted Sufi Singer and Dr. Irshad Kamil, famous lyricists from Bollywood, both distinguished PU Alumni graced the Scholarship Award Function organized by Panjab University Alumni Association, here today.

            Dr. Kamil felt nostalgic about being in his alma mater, PU and in his address expressed that it is a great feeling to be back home. He said that this is a function of connectivity which gives opportunity to meet all and expressed his gratitude to the University for making him what he is today. International Brand Ambassador of PU, Dr. Sartaaj, felt himself at home and said, “Art and Culture is a way to create bond and harmony between individuals, and recognize themselves.” Dr. Sartaaj referring to PU as his ‘Mecca’, urged the youth to take the culture further to next generation. He was happy regarding PU introducing Shahmukhi course from next session.

            Emphasizing upon the importance of alumni association with the University, Prof. Dr. Arun Kumar Grover marked the 99 years of conception of PU at Lahore in 2017-18 and said, “Alumni connectivity with old and young is important to extend, examine and create the frontier of knowledge.” He informed that next year will commemorate the centenary of Honors School of PU along with that of Prof. R.C. Paul, who stayed as Vice Chancellor for a period of 10 years. A stamp would be released on the occasion, he added.

            Prof Monga informed that the scholarship Award Function was started in the year 2003. This is the 15th Award Function. This year 67 scholarships are being awarded out which, 30 are for affiliated colleges of PU and 37 for PU students, informed Prof Monga. The toppers are being paid a scholarship of Rs. 10,000/- along with a Certificate of Merit and Trophy for Academic Excellence. All the graduate and post-graduate toppers have also been conferred with the honorary life membership of PUAA by incurring expenditure of Rs.1000/- for each from its own funds. Apart from this 16 stipends are also being given, he added.

District Child Protection Society under the aegis of District Magistrate/Collector, Chandigarh Administration organized a Child Beggar rescue drive  at  traffic light points sector 34/35, Elante Mall , traffic lights of Sector 34/ 33/ 22 ,  and near sector  20 Jama Mazjid  Chandigarh.A total of 6 children ( 3 boys and 3 girls )  were rescued in the drive, who  have been provided with temporary shelter  after filing of DDR and medical checkup with orders of Child Welfare committee until further enquiry may be conducted to assess the background of children and their families. Out of 6 children 4 Children have been rescued from the Jama Mazjid sector 20 at 2:00 PM under the Category of Child beggary and 2 Children were rescued from the Elante Mall at 8:00 PM. The children were found selling products such as ballons, other items near main gate of Elante Mall.

The District Child Protection Society set up under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) for the implementation the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and model rules 2016. It was observed during the drives that a number of Children are seen begging and selling alms often accompanied by the adults. District Child Protection Society will organize drives to crackdown on forced child begging and child labour as well in the city. Further various awareness programs are organized by the Society to create public awareness about the Child protection issues.  The drive was conducted by Ms. Tabhsum Khan, District Child Protection officer, Ms. Anita Ranjan, Child Protection Officer (Non Institutional),  Mr. Irshad , Social Worker &  Ms. Anita and Mr. Rajesh Outreach Workers from the District Child Protection Society.
