As a Placement initiative, Government Home Science College conducted a panel discussion on Women Luminaries in Business Setup to apprise the students of the challenges and opportunities in the field of entrepreneurship. Successful women entrepreneurs from around the city were invited as part of the panel. Ms Jyoti Arora, owner of Vata Ma Solutions was the first speaker of the day. She shared her journey of learning to manage your own waste which started off by seeing her daily garbage collector. Her idea about segregating our wastes and using it as compost was brought about after a lot of research and technical expertise. She gave up all inhibitions about putting her hand in the dirt and has gone on to save more than 2000 kg waste daily in Chandigarh and recycling it to help save the environment and make the air clean. Ms. Gayatri Sood from Monica's Puddings and pies, a professional chef discussed her journey about how this brand was established. She spoke about how her passion developed and her first baking experience at the age of 8 years. She went on to study at Le Cordon Bleu from Paris, the best pastry school in the world. Her Challenge was to add on more desserts and recipes to the existing established brand name. She discussed how running so many stores is challenging and to procure quality ingredients and management of staff. She motivated the girls to follow their dreams and passion. Ms. Lalita Grover, the next guest speaker encouraged the girls to take up any challenges that come their way. She runs a family business of ready made garments and spoke about how her journey was challenging in terms of lack of support but its her passion and determination that kept her going. She shared how gender bias and societal pressure bagged her down but she kept going on and emerged as a successful entrepreneur. Ms. Ashna Narula, the founder of Psychopedia a training institute to help people find the light hidden in them was the next speaker. She shared how she invested all her savings and did not borrow money from her family. Her journey included not just acting as a faculty, but also managing the whole institute. She discussed how her attitude shifted from one of complaining to gratitude. She encouraged the students to let their work speak for itself. She motivated the girls to become financially independent and not to depend on anyone else as' you have you'. Mrs Savita Ahluwalia, the last speaker of the day, is the owner of designer boutiques-Ujitaa and Vastram. She discussed about her growing passion for Fashion and trends. She emphasized the role of team work in achieving a target and to overcome major challenges in one's field. Students also got an opportunity to interact with the guest speakers and further discuss their queries regarding entrepreneurial ventures. Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries for sharing their experiences and challenges in their fields and further motivated the students to set their goals and move ahead and become successful.

Vortex, the Annual Fest of Physics Department, Panjab University kicked off, here today. Department of Physics which was ranked the best among other Indian Universities in 2018 by the US rankings, is also reputed for its fest among Colleges and Universities in North India. The 20 events of Vortex have been subdivided in Academic, Sports and fun categories and have been spread over duration of 2 days. Vortex’s first event, Marathon, was flagged off this morning and was followed by the opening ceremony which was inaugurated by Chairperson of the Department, Prof. Navdeep Goyal. Following the inauguration, 14 other events including Sci-Quest, Crack the Code, Drama Maxx were lined up back to back and received a total participation of over 800 students from more than 10 colleges and universities from outside the campus as well as from other departments within. मोतीराम आर्य सीनियर सेकेंडरी स्कूल, से.27, चण्डीगढ़  द्वारा स्कूल के ऑडिटोरियम में कक्षा 6 से 11 के विद्यार्थियों एवं शिक्षकों के लिए स्ट्रेस मैनेजमेंट पर डॉ. सचिन परब (कंसलटेंट ट्रेनर, बीएसइएस,  एमजी हॉस्पिटल ) का एक लेक्चर रखा गया । यह लेक्चर ब्रह्मकुमारीज़ के मेडिकल विंग के सहयोग से आयोजित किया गया था जिसका मकसद आने वाली वार्षिक परीक्षाओं में विद्यार्थियों व शिक्षकों को तनाव से राहत मिल सके । डॉ. परब ने महान दार्शनिक व धर्मज्ञ स्वामी विवेकानंद की शिक्षाओं के जरिए सकारात्मक सोच के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला । उन्होंने कहा कि नाकामियों से बिना घबराये अपने निर्धारित लक्ष्यों को हासिल करने हेतु निरंतर प्रयासरत व लगन से जुटे रहना चाहिए । इस मौके पर स्कूल प्रिंसिपल डॉ. सीमा बीजी ने उनका धन्यवाद किया व कहा कि उनके लेक्चर से विद्यार्थी एवं शिक्षक लाभान्वित हुए हैं व उनका मनोबल ऊंचा हुआ है ।

गांव दरिया में गांव के लोगों ने चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन के अधिकारियों के खिलाफ रास्ता जाम किया क्योंकि पिछले कई महीनों से गांव से मखनमाजरा के लिए बाहर जाने के रास्ता था वो बिल्कुल भी चलने लायक नहीं रहा है क्योंकि यह पूरी तरह से कीचड़ से भरा हुआ है । भाजपा किसान मोर्चा महासचिव धर्मेंद्र सिंह सैनी ने आक्रोश व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि इस कारण बच्चों व बुजुर्गों का बाहर निकलना बिल्कुल ही बंद हो गया है । इसके अलावा कई लोग हादसे का शिकार भी हो चुके है । चंडीगढ़ के अधिकारी हर बार कोरे आश्वासन देकर गांव के लोगों को धोखे में रख रहे हैं । सैनी की अध्यक्षता में हुए इस रोष प्रदर्शन में जे पी राणा, दीपक उनियाल, निक्कू पांडेय, संतु कश्यप, प्रेम राज, संजय यादव, करण यादव, रूपक झा, विशाल, हरबंश सिंह, बालम नेगी, मुन्ना सिंह, डी डी कंसल, हीरावती, शुष्मा देवी, अजय पांडेय, राजेश कुमार, राम कुमार आदि भी शामिल हुए ।

चंडीगढ़ में पहली बार शिव साईं राम सेवा समिति के सहयोग से विशाल कान्हा महोत्सव आयोजित किया जा रहा है । महोत्सव 24 फरवरी को सेक्टर 34 के एग्जिबिशन ग्राउंड में किया होगा । इसमें कान्हा का भव्य आकर्षक दरबार और उस दरबार में एक साथ महारास करते 51 लोग कान्हा महोत्सव की शोभा बढ़ाएंगे। महोत्सव में रंग बिरंगे फूलों से सजा बंगला बनाया जाएगा । यहां पर वृंदावन की तर्ज पर बांके बिहारी का विशाल दरबार सजेगा । इसमें श्री कृष्ण भजन संध्या में वृंदावन एवं भारत के विभिन्न स्थानों से आए भजन गायक कृष्ण भजनों से भक्ति रस की फुहारों से कृष्ण प्रेमियों को सराबोर करेंगे । गुडगांव के प्रसिद्ध गायक काकाजी झांकी वाले भजनों के साथ सुंदर  झाकियों के दर्शन करने का सुअवसर मिलेगा । 150 फुट का दरबार: सेवा समिति के मेंबर अनिल महाजन और सलाहकार डा० अनीश गर्ग ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि 150 फुट का भव्य दरबार बनाया जाएगा । दरबार सजाने  के लिए वृंदावन से रजनीगंधा के लगभग 5 क्विंटल से अधिक फूल लाए जाएंगे। यहां पर कृष्ण के समय की महारास में 51 राधा कृष्ण वृंदावन से पहुचेंगे। चंडीगढ़ को पूरी तरह से बांके बिहारी का वृंदावन बनाया जाएगा । सुप्रसिद्ध गायिका पूनम दीदी ,विक्की गर्ग, मनिन्दर चंचल, वन्दना चुघ,विनोद राजन, साईं सिकंदर प्रस्तुति देंगे । सुबह 11 बजे हवन यज्ञ में आहुति डालने के बाद 12 बजे से ये महोत्सव शुरू होगा और ठाकुर की इच्छा तक चलेगा, ठाकुर को छप्पन भोग लगाए जाऐंगे । दोपहर 2.00 बजे राधा रसोई और रात्रि 8 बजे श्याम रसोई का  विशाल भंडारा लगाया जाएगा ।
