श्री चैतन्य गौड़ीय मठ सेक्टर 20 चंडीगढ़ में भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी की गुरु पूर्णिमा जयंती एवं होली मिलन महोत्सव बड़े धूमधाम हर्षोल्लास विधि-विधान पूर्वक मनाया गया,  गौड़ीय मठ के प्रवक्ता जयप्रकाश गुप्ता ने अपने वक्तव्य में कहा कि आज गौर जयंती के उपलक्ष पर  गौड़ीय मठ भक्तों ने उपवास रखकर अपनी निष्ठा एवं श्रद्धा व्यक्त की प्रात काल मंगला आरती के पश्चात श्री चैतन्य भागवत की कथा पूर्ण दिवस चलती रही गोरिया मठ चंडीगढ़ के प्रबंधक स्वामी बामण जी महाराज जी ने भक्तों को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि आज ही के दिन भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी बंगाल प्रांत के नवदीप धाम में प्रकट होकर जीवो का उद्धार  शुद्ध कृष्ण भक्ति प्रेम प्रदान कर किया था  

  आज जो पूरे विश्व में संकीर्तन धर्म चल रहा है यह भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी की ही देन है, उन्होंने कृष्ण भक्ति में जात पात धर्म का किसी प्रकार का भेद नहीं रखा, इस पर  संसार के प्राणियों का एक समान अधिकार बताया, द्वापर त्रेता में भगवान ने अवतार लेकर  शस्त्र अस्त्र से दुष्टों का उद्धार किया था, लेकिन कलयुग में भगवान ने प्रेम अवतार लेकर संकीर्तन रूपी कृष्ण भक्ति से दुष्टों का उद्धार किया ,आज का वृंदावन जो प्राय  लुप्त हो गया था भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी ने भगवान कृष्ण लीलाओं के स्थानों का श्री सनातन गोस्वामी रूप गोस्वामी गोपाल भट्ट जीव गोस्वामी के मार्फत लुप्त हुए तीर्थ स्थलों का उद्धार करवाया ,आज भक्तों ने अपने इस महान प्रेम अवतारी भगवान श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी के जन्म महोत्सव पर उल्लास एवं हर्ष व्यक्त करते हुए महा संकीर्तन का नृत्य गान कर आनंद प्राप्त किया संध्या काल मैं भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी का पंचामृत से अभिषेक कर उन्हें नई पोशाक एवं आभूषण भेंट कर अपनी आस्था व्यक्त की आरती के पश्चात भक्तों ने रंग-बिरंगे फूलों की होली खेल कर होली का त्यौहार भी धूमधाम से मनाया, भगवान को अर्पित स्वादिष्ट भोजन प्रसादम हजारों भक्तों को वितरित किया गयाl

केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री डॉ हर्षवर्धन ने शुक्रवार को विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) के कार्यकारी बोर्ड अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला l उन्होंने जापान के डॉ हिरोकी नकतानी की जगह ली हैl डॉ हर्षवर्धन ने जापान के डॉ हिरोकी नकतानी की जगह ली हैl 194 देशों की विश्व स्वास्थ्य सभा द्वारा भारत को कार्यकारी बोर्ड में नियुक्त करने के प्रस्ताव पर हस्ताक्षर कियेl शुक्रवार से शुरू होने वाले पहले वर्ष के लिए भारत का उम्मीदवार कार्यकारी बोर्ड का अध्यक्ष होगाl कार्यकारी बोर्ड 34 व्यक्तियों से बना है, जो तकनीकी रूप से स्वास्थ्य के क्षेत्र में योग्य हैं. बोर्ड साल में कम से कम दो बार बैठक करता है और मुख्य बैठक आमतौर पर जनवरी में होती है. स्वास्थ्य सभा के तुरंत बाद मई में दूसरी छोटी बैठक होती हैl कोरोना काल में न सिर्फ भारत ने अपने देश में काफी हद तक कोविड-19 के संक्रमण को रोकने का प्रयास किया है, बल्कि पूरे विश्व को मदद भी की हैl

University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Panjab University Chandigarh, Panjab University organized its 7th edition of HOSTOCON, an international conference on medical health and wellness tourism in India, Status Trends and Future Prospects. The dignitaries for the event were His Eminence Mr. Willy Kipkorir Bett, High Commissioner Kenya to India, Dr. Marina Ambrosecchio, President and founder UET Italia, Dr. Bikas Mehdi, PGI, Professor R.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor Maharaja Agrasen University, Professor Sanjay Kaushik, Director ICSSR and Dean College Development Council, Dr. Subhash Sharma, PU Fellow and Dr. Varinder Garg, Radiologist, OSD to Health Minister PGI. In his welcome address Dr. Subhash Sharma described significance of India in medical tourism also one of the best locations to obtain top quality medical treatments and indisputably a leader in the promotion of medical tourism. He further emphasisied that Indian health care industry is growing at a faster pace and it is likely to increase by $280 billion industry by 2020.Dr. Varinder Garg discussed that India is equally competent to its western counterparts as it offers low cost treatment and competent quality of services. He said that Kitchens in homes of India are itself a pharmacy. The amalgamations of various herbs and spices Served as potential healers for various diseases and ailments. He also said that channelizing medical tourism would help create employment and boots infrastructural facilities. Prof. R.K. Gupta during his speech told that medical tourists come to India for dental, cosmetic, cardiovascular and neurological treatments. He suggested that tourism sector should work closely with the industry chambers, students should be trained with an additional language, there should be a joint platform of information and communication also the services of Ayurveda homeopathy and naturopathy should be expanded and panchkarma should be highlighted. Prof. Marina emphasized that India and Italy should work hand in hand for expanding their niche medical tourism and to tap its full potential. She discussed how Italy and India are similar in respect of medical tourism however, lack of Proper infrastructural facilities and marketing have somehow lead to the degradation in medical tourist’s influx. Mr. Willy said that Kenya and India have relations since ancient times. Also he said that Kenya is a potential market of medical tourists for niche medical tourism in India. He described the reasons for the emergence of medical tourism in India. According to him time has come for the policy makers for putting up framework and suggesting the government. Dr. Bikas Mehdi explained how people who had been treated by Indian doctors had a lesser mortality rate. He described how competent MBBS professionals in India are. However the communication was found to be a drawback for the development of niche tourism. Prof. Sanjay Kaushik described the model for ideal medical tourism and suggested three ways for expansion of the same. Dr. Prashant Gautam, Director UIHTM, presented the vote of thanks.

Forensic podiatry is the knowledge of the science of foot, footprints, gait and footwear to be used in crime scene investigation. Dr Kewal Krishan, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh will present the research in collaboration with Dr John DiMaggio- USA a renowned forensic podiatrist on ‘Forensic podiatry: a great help in crime scene investigation’ in 71st Annual Scientific conference of American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA from 18-23 February, 2019. This is the largest forum of forensic scientists all over the world and more than 5000 forensic scientists attend this conference every year. DNA profiling, fingerprints, facial characteristics, hair, lip prints, and other characteristics of the human body have been successfully used by the investigating agencies/police to identify and catch the criminals since decades. Like these features, human foot and footprints are also unique to an individual. The variability of the footprints in individuals is enough to enable individualization in forensic examinations. This has been shown in a series of investigations conducted by Dr Kewal Krishan and his collaborator from USA, Dr John DiMaggio- a renowned forensic podiatrist. This research has been accepted by American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). In the last decade, many methods of identification from foot and footprints have been developed which are successfully used in USA, UK, Australia and many countries of Europe to identify the criminals; however, in India, the footprints science is still considered as a rudimentary science. Its use in the criminal investigation is further restricted due to its less awareness amongst investigation agencies in India. The footprints are available almost at every crime scene in a variety of forms such as bare footprints, socked footprints or footwear prints. However, the police and the investigating agencies should be aware that how to search, secure and lift the footprints from the crime scene. Dr Krishan is a renowned forensic anthropologist and published more than 180 papers in reputed journals of forensic sciences and anthropology. He has more than 3000 citations of his research work. He recently contributed invited chapters to the most coveted Encyclopedias of Forensic Sciences, Legal Medicine and ArchaeologicalSciences published by Elsevier and Wiley, USA.

Prof. Chongtham Nirmala, Department of Botany, PU, Chandigarh, a World Bamboo Ambassador is representing Panjab University as the National Coordinator of this event. Delegates from 33 countries are participating in this event which will comprise of hands on training in construction, handicrafts and food and exhibits from all over the world. About 300 people are expected to attend the workshop.

Tamil Bhajans and Aarti were organised during the ceremony and all devotees took part with great religious fervour. It is a symbol of self control over senses and purity of thoughts.
