Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies (ICSVS), Panjab University organized a half day retreat on Developing Self by celebrating International Yoga Day on 21st June 2018. It was a day dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body through physical, mental and spiritual practice.
       Yoga Protocol by Mr. Ashupratap was attended by students and teachers.  Prof. Nandita Singh, coordinator, ICSVS, while introducing the theme of the program mentioned that Yoga should be adopted by the youth as a way of life for enhancing their potential as it has the ability to bring a balance between body and mind, develops focus and gives us direction.  Yoga is very important element for stress free life.  A Lecture on ‘Yoga in the making of Inner Persona’ by Ms. Indu Aggarwal Director, Disha for Success was organized. A practical session on learning Heartfulness meditation technique was held by Prof. O P Katare. Heartfulness meditation is based on the old tradition of Yogic transmission and is gaining popularity in the world. Practioners of Yog, Ayurveda, Students and people from society contributed to the discussion on the theme.

Application  are invited for admission in M. Phil. (Guru Granth Sahib Studies) for the session 2018-2019 in the Department of Punjabi, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Entrance Test for admission will be conducted by the department 17.7.2018 at 10.00 a.m.  Candidates may submit their application forms along with testimonials, in the office of the Department of Punjabi, Arts Block-1st (Floor-Ist) by 6.7.2018. A candidate having master's degree in any faculty/stream with 55% marks is eligible to apply. The medium of test will be in both the languages i.e. Punjabi as well as English.  The syllabi for the test will be Historical, Philosophical, Linguistic and Poetical aspects of Guru Granth Sahib Studies, and Comparative Studies of Religions.

Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh celebrated 4th International Yoga Day by performing the common Yoga Protocol from 6:00 am to 8:00 am by more than 500 people including students, faculties, local residents, NSS volunteers at Gymnasium Hall, PU Manishisant Munishri Dr. Vinay Kumar Ji “Alok” , was the chief guest and addressed the gathering. 
The Sports Department made the arrangements for LED screen for listening to 
Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narinder Modi address to the Nation. Present on the occasion was  Prof. Shankarji Jha, DUI, Dr. Parminder Singh, Director Sports, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Dy Director Sports and other faculty members. The event was concluded with the National Anthem. Since the inception of the celebrations of international day of yoga since 2015, Panjab University Chandigarh regularly provides yoga classes to the campus people and to the outsiders as well. P.U time to time organised yoga activities, yoga lectures, Awareness campaign, rally for yoga, free yoga services to the public, consultancy for treating disorders/diseases through yoga and nature therapies for the whole year without any break. Aiming to “live life to full potential” and to make individuals healthy, to develop the culture of adopting yoga in individual’s life.The free yoga classes at P.U. are the regular feature to promote health and wellness in the people inside and for the outsiders as well. The venue for the year long free yoga classes remains the Alumni House P.U. and during the one month free special yoga camp the venues were Shooting Range and gymnasium Hall P.U to promote mass participation to celebrate international day of yoga . The Yoga Expects Acharya Raman Kumar ji and Ms. Geeta Thakur provides their services to the participant’s whole year and during the camp Acharya Raman Kumar, Ms. Geeta Thakur and Dr. Neeru Malik helps the directorate sports to hold the celebrations of international day of yoga.
