The ‘Havan’ Ceremony was organised in Bhavan Vidyalaya on 20th February 2019 to seek grace and choicest blessings of the Almighty for the students appearing for class X and XII Board Examinations. This auspicious endeavour was initiated by ‘Sanskara’, the Human Excellence Club of the school, with the aim to bring peace, cheer and prosperity to the children and the entire world, along with wishing the students well in their forthcoming exams. The ceremony was performed with religious fervour and spirituality. The sacred event was attended by the Sr. Principal Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Vice Principal Mrs. Suparna Bansal, students and the staff with great reverence and devotion. The programme ended with the ‘Purn Ahuti’ and distribution of Prasad. After the ceremony Senior Principal Mrs. Vineeta Arora addressed the students and apprised them of the rules to be followed during the Board Exams. She also wished the students all the love, happiness and success for their future and  asked them to stay connected with the alma mater.

Against Motor Vehicles Plying On Cycle Tracks In U.T. Chandigarh. In Order To Take Strict Action Against The Motor Vehicles Plying On Cycle Track All The Traffic Police Officials Have Been Sensitized And Equipped To Enforce Section 202 Of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 As Per Which Persons Who Commit The Offence Punishable Under Section 184 MV Act, 1988 (Driving Dangerously) In Their Presence Are Arrested Without Warrant And Their Vehicles Are Impounded. Further, All Such Cases Are Submitted To The Concerned Court With The Request For Institution Of Prosecution Case Against Violators As Per Provisions Of M.V. Act, 1988. On 20.02.2019, 10 Such Cases Have Been Booked Under Section 202 Read With Section 184 M.V. Act, 1988 For The Violation Of Plying Motor Vehicles On Cycle Track. This Drive Was Started In The Month Of October, 2018 And Till Date, 471 Such Cases Under Section 202 Read With Section 184 M.V. Act, 1988 Have Been Booked For The Said Violation. As Per Section 184 Of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, Offender Of Such Offence Shall Be Punishable For The First Offence With Imprisonment For A Term Which May Extend To Six Months, Or With Fine Which May Extend To One Thousand Rupees. Chandigarh Traffic Police Appeals To The General Public Not To Ply Their Motor Vehicles On Cycle Track. Strict Action Shall Be Continued To BeTaken Against Such Violations In The Future.

भारतीय जनता पार्टी चण्डीगढ़ के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष संजय टंडन ने आज पीजीआई एमईआर के ऑडोटोरियम में आर्ट आफ लिविंग के संस्थापक गुरूदेव श्री श्री रविशंकर जी से आर्शीवाद प्राप्त किया । विश्व विख्यात धर्मगुरू चण्डीगढ़ में आयोजित एक सेमीनार में मुख्य वक्ता के रूप में भाग लेने आये थे । गौरतलब है कि आज के आयोजित हुए सेमीनार में प्रदेशाध्यक्ष संजय टंडन विशेष अतिथि के रूप में भाग लिया था और गुरूदेव श्री श्री रविशंकर जी ने संजय टंडन को आर्शीवाद प्रदान किया । गुरूदेव श्री श्री रविशंकर जी ने अपनी मुखवाणी से सभी लोगों को ज्ञान के सागर में ले जाने का प्रयास किया । उन्होंने कहा कि मनुष्य को अगर अपना स्वस्थ सुदृढ़ रखना है तो योगी अनेंकों प्रक्रियाओं के माध्यम से स्वस्थ रह सकते हैं। आज के भाग-दौड़ और तनावग्रस्त जीवन से मुक्ति पाने के लिए मानव को योग का सहारा लेना चाहिए । उन्होंने योग के ऊपर अन्य महत्वपूर्ण पहलुओं को भी जनता के बीच रखा ।

Total cash Rs. 1,400/- and playing cards were recovered from them. In this regard, a case FIR No. 217, U/S 13-3-67 Gambling Act has been registered in PS-Manimajra, Chandigarh. Later they were released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress. MV Theft Mayank Kumar R/o 3 828, Sector-16/D, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s Motor Cycle No. UP-20BE-9130 while parked near his resident on night intervening 16/17.02.2019. A case FIR No. 48, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress. Tarsem Kumar R/o # 427, 1st floor, Sector-8, Distt.-Panchkula, Haryana reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s Bolero Pickup No. PB-65(T)-719 from near backside of SCF No.179, Grain Market, Sector-26, Chandigarh. Murder  A case FIR No. 364, U/S 307, 34 added 302 IPC has been registered in PS-Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh on the complaint of Amit R/o # 1859, Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh who reported that 4/5 unknown persons who attacked on 01 unknown person with sharp weapon near Vikas Nagar Bridge on 18.02.2019. The injured person namely Laxman (age-35) R/o # 376, Sunder Nagar, Part No.2, Mauli Complex, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh got injured and admitted in GMCH-32, Chandigarh where he expired during treatment. भारतीय जनता पार्टी चण्डीगढ़ के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष संजय टंडन ने आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव के मध्य नजर पार्टी के कार्यक्रमों को सुचारू रूप से चलाने के लिए 34 मंडलों में चुनाव प्रभारियों को नियुक्त किया । इस अवसर पर पार्टी के उपाध्यक्ष रामवीर भट्टी व भीमसैन अग्रवाल, महासचिव चन्द्रशेखर और अन्य कार्यकर्ता उपस्थित थे । उक्त जानकारी देते हुए पार्टी के महासचिव प्रेम कौशिक ने बताया कि वर्ष 2019 के लोकसभा चुनाव की तैयारियों के लिए पार्टी के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष संजय टंडन ने पार्टी के महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्तियों को चुनाव प्रभारी नियुक्त किया और आज संजय टंडन के अध्यक्षता में सभी मंडल प्रभारी, मंडल अध्यक्ष, जिला अध्यक्ष और मोर्चा अध्यक्ष की बैठक पार्टी कार्यालय कमलम में हुई और संजय टंडन ने चुनाव की रूपरेखा और जिम्मेवारियों के बारे में विस्तार पूर्वक चर्चा की । बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए संजय टंडन ने कहा कि आने वाले चुनावों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के सभी कार्यकर्ता एकजुट होकर कार्य करने हेतु प्रतिबद्ध हैं । चुनाव प्रभारियों की नियुक्ति से बूथ स्तर पर आयोजित किए जाने वाले कार्यक्रमों को और गति मिलेगी । इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने सभी मंडल अध्यक्षों तथा शक्ति केंद्र प्रमुखों से अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों में लोकसभा चुनावों हेतु आयोजित किए जाने वाले सभी कार्यक्रमों को सुचारु रूप से करने का आह्वान किया ।

One arrested for possessing illegal liquor Chandigarh Police arrested a lady resident of DMC, Chandigarh from near Karan Taxi Stand, Sector-38 West, Chandigarh while illegally possessing 48 quarters of country made liquor on 19.02.2019. A case FIR No. 25, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress. Abducted/missing A person resident of Manimajra, Chandigarh reported that complainant’s daughter aged about 16 years has been missing from his resident since 18.02.2019. A case FIR No. 22, U/S 363, 366 IPC has been registered in PS-Manimajra, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress. Action against violation of orders of DM, UT, Chandigarh A case FIR No. 53, U/S 188 IPC has been registered in PS-03, Chandigarh against Abhay R/o # 728, Casia Omaxe, New Chandigarh who rented out Booth No.1, Sector-10, Chandigarh without providing tenant information to local Police and violated the orders U/S 144 Cr.P.C of DM, UT, Chandigarh. Accused arrested and later bailed out. हरियाणा पुलिस द्वारा मादक पदार्थो तस्करो के खिलाफ राज्य भर  में चलाए जा रहे विशेष अभियान के तहत कार्रवाई करते हुए सीआईए सिरसा पुलिस ने महत्त्वपूर्ण सूचना के आधार पर दो युवकों को तीन किलोग्राम अफीम के साथ शहर सिरसा के बस स्टैंड क्षेत्र से काबू किया है। यह जानकारी हरियाणा पुलिस मुख्यालय के प्रवक्ता ने दी । प्रवक्ता ने आगे  बताया कि पकडे गये युवकों की पहचान नकुल पुत्र गोपाल व महेंद्र पुत्र भून निवासी कुरीद जिलाचतरा झारखंड़ के रूप मे हुई है । पकडे गये युवकों से अफीम सप्लायर के बारे मे नाम पता मालूम कर इस संबंध मे थाना सिविल लाईन सिरसा मे मादक पदार्थ अधिनियम के तहत अभियोग दर्ज कर सप्लायर की तलाश शुरू कर दी है । पकडे गये दोनों युवकों को अदालत में पेश कर रिमांड पर लिया जाएगा और विस्तार से पूछताछ कर अफीम तस्करी के इस नेटवर्क से जुडे अन्य लोगो के बारे में भी जानकारी हासिल कर उनके खिलाफ भी कार्रवाई की जाएगी । इसी के साथ ही सीआईए डबवाली पुलिस टीम ने गश्त व चैंकिग के दौरान महत्वपूर्ण सूचना के आधार पर कार्रवाई करते हुऐ अंर्तराज्यीय मोटर साइकिल चोर गिरोह के दो सदस्यों को काबू किया है तथा पकड़े गये आरोपियों की पहचान जगदीप सिंह उर्फ गीपू पुत्र जसविंद्र सिंह निवासी कणकवाल थाना रामा पंजाब व सुखचैन सिंह उर्फ चैनी पुत्र राम सिंह निवासी पन्नीवाला मोरिकां थाना सदर डबवाली के रुप में हुई है । पकड़े गये आरोपियों ने हरियाणा, पंजाब व राजस्थान क्षेत्रो में मोटर साईकिल चोरी की 24 वारदातें कबूल की है । पकड़े गये आरोपियों की निशान देही पर 11 चोरी शुदा मोटर साईकिल गाँव पन्नी वाला मोरीकां से बरामद कर लिए है । प्रवक्ता के अनुसार सीआईए डवबाली व शहर डबवाली की एक पुलिस टीम ने महत्त्वपूर्ण सूचना के आधार पर उपरोक्त आरोपियों को भटिंडा चौक मंडी डबवाली से काबू किया तथा पकड़े गऐ आरोपियों से पुछताछ की जा रही है और पुछताछ के दौरान मोटर साईकिल चोरी की अन्य वारदातें व गिरोह के अन्य सदस्यों के बारे में खुलासा होने की संभावना के बारे में इंकार नही किया जा सकता । दोनों आरोपियों को अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा ।

School of Punjabi Studies and Department of Evening Studies-MDRC, Panjab University, Chandigarh jointly going to organize the 6th National Conference on Punjabi Language, Linguistics and Folklore from 22-23, February 2019.  The theme of the Conference is Study of Language and Folklore in the Context of Spatial and Social Diversity : Social Perspective.  In this two-day National Conference, prominent linguists, folklorists and literary personalities will participate as resource persons.  About 60 papers will be presented by the eminent scholars. More than hundred delegates from the whole country will participate.  There will be two venues : Auditorium of Department of Evening Studies and Ground Floor Lecture Hall in the Arts Block - I (Shaheed Udham Singh Hall).  Punjabi Linguistics Association (Regd.) elected Dr. Yog Raj Angrish, Chairperson, School of Punjabi Studies as its General Secretary.  Dr. Surjit Singh (Professor, Punjab University, Patiala) and Dr. Sarabjit Singh (Department of Punjabi, PU, Chandigarh) will be Coordinators of the Conference. The Chief Guest of the Conference will be Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar.  Keynote Address will be delivered by Former Linguist and Former Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala Dr. Joginder Singh Puar.  The founder President of PLA Prof. Bhupinder Singh Khaira (Former Dean Languages, Punjabi University, Patiala) will present a paper on the topic of the Conference.   The scholars like Dr. Yog Raj Angrish, Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dr. Gurmit Singh (GNDU), Dr. Sohinderbir Singh (GNDU), Dr. Joginder Kairon (Patiala), Dr. Jaswinder Singh (Patiala), Dr. Karamjit Singh (Kurukshetra), Dr. Baldev Singh Cheema (Partiala), Dr.Boota Singh Brar (Punjabi University Regional Centre, Bathinda), Dr. Jagdish Kaur, (Director Languages and Communication, PAU, Ludhiana) and Dr. Rawail Singh (Delhi University, Delhi) will participate.  Dr. Sanjay Kaushik (Dean, College Development Council, PU, Chandigarh) will be the Chief Guest of Valedictory session of the Conference.  The Valedictory address will be delivered by famous historian Dr. Ishwar Dayal Gaur (Panjab University, Chandigarh).  Dr.  Gurpal Singh Sandhu and Prof. Sukhdev Singh will be Guest of Honour.  It is great pleasure for School of Punjabi Studies and Department of Evening Studies that PADAM SHRI Dr. Surjit Patar (Chairman, Punjab Arts Council) will deliver the presidential address.  Dr. Yog Raj Angrish (General Secretary, PLA) said that this is the 6th All India Conference of Linguists and Folklorists.  President of PLA Dr. Bhupinder Singh Khaira said that PLA is a registered organization which dealing with the issues and challenges to Punjabi Language, Literature, Folklore and Culture from the last 6 years.  This year, PLA decided that Panjab University, Chandigarh is one of the prominent University of India will host this Conference.  In this year, the problems and challenges faced by regional languages, including Punjabi language will be discussed in the Conference.  It is said that for the overall development of students, the mother tongue is the most important factor. In this Conference, the issues of mother tongue will also be discussed.  He also assured that the PLA will bear all the expenses on this Conference. This organization is a registered body approved by MHRD and funded under UGC schemes

Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh welcomed a group of 18 postgraduate students and one teacher from Yuvaraja's College, Mysore on an educational tour which is a part of the academic service activity. The visit started with an interaction with the Chairperson of the department. They were briefed about the faculty members and their specializations, complete facilities such as practical halls, instrumentation labs, various students’ activities, and flexible curriculum in form of Choice Based Credit System. The students were shown all these facilities and the working of various high-end equipment, specialised laboratories for future studies. The students discussed the possibilities of research in the department. They also took this occasion to investigate a possibility of studying and get acquainted with the academic environment at the University. The teacher, Mr. Shashanka K. Prasad said that the purpose of visiting the Department was to give the students knowledge about studying in the Panjab University as well as to expose the students to different learning atmosphere. The trip was a great success proving to be highly educational, not only in the field of "Biochemistry, but in understanding the culture of Punjab and students in this area!" Prof. Archana Bhatnagar, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry felt that experiences such as these are invaluable for enhancing a students' understanding of the world, which greatly improves networking and personal development. Later, the students met the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Raj Kumar, who encouraged them to strike the right balance between academic activity and cultural opportunities at the Panjab University

The University School of Open Learning (USOL), Panjab University, Chandigarh organized Placement Orientation Session for the students for registration with Employment Exchange, Chandigarh. Ms. Meenakshi Goyal, Sub Regional Employment Officer, University Employment and Information and Guidance Bureau, Panjab UniversitySector-14, Chandigarh gave a presentation on manual registration as well as on-line registration on National Career Service Cell of Govt. of India (www.ncs.gov.in). She sensitized students about the advantages and opportunities available to them for employment in the public sector. As many as 100 students form the various streams such as M.B.A, M.COM, M.A. and B.ED. of USOL enthusiastically attended the event and their queries were addressed. The University School of Open learning, Panjab University, Chandigarh, also observed World Day of Social Justice, in which  Prof.  Rattan Singh, Chairman, University Institute of Legal Studies, PU delivered a special lecture.  By citing many important cases, he presented the present scenario of Social Justice in India and also raised the issue about handling many challenges in this regard.  The lecture was attended by students and faculty members of USOL.

The Literary Club of University Institute Of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a Mind Management Session with TEDx speaker Vishesh Deep. Life and corporate coach Vishesh has transformed lives of thousands of youth with his compelling sessions. In his session at UILS, he emphasized that the education system focuses majorly on the applied skills while it is the soft skills that need to be worked on. He shared several techniques to help students boost their clarity, concentration and confidence. He made the students aware as to how they become prey of their own thoughts and how handling their mind and emotions would go a long way in shaping a happy and successful life. He introduced them to the power of meditation and initiated them on the path of being a hardcore optimist.

A special lecture on the subject of “Humanism and Contribution of Guru Nanak” was arranged by the Department of Punjabi, University School of Open Learning. The main speaker on this occasion was Dr. Iqbal Singh Dillon an Eminent Scholar of Sikh Studies. Dr. Dillon explained how the concept of humanism was developed by the Western Scholars. Educationist and Scientist during the 19th and 20th century. The doctrine of Humanism identified and finalized by them has also been recognized by the UNO. He highlighted the silent features of modern humanism as human welfare, human dignity, human rights and human values. Dr. Dillon improvised that Guru Nanak and actually launched a movement in modern humanism in the 15th century and this movement losted for more than two centuries till Guru Gobind Singh at the beginning of 18th century. Dr. Dillon exhausted the students to revive the movement of humanism which was conducted by Guru Nanak and his successors. Prof. JaspalKaurKaang welcomed the speaker and explained the concept of Humanism. The other faculty members Dr. Bhupinder Singh Pali, Dr. Parveen Kumar and Sh. Harmail Singh were also present on the occasion who also presented their views.
