Saraswati Pooja and Basanth Panchmi was celebrated at the Neerja Bhanot Hall, Girls Hostel No. 10 Panjab University, Chandigarh. Idol of Goddess Saraswati was unveiled and sarasvati vandana was recited. Wardens from other girl’s hostels, guests and residents participated in this religious ceremony and took the blessings of the deity.  Pooja was followed by basanth panchmi celebrations which involved taking swing and kite flying.

Forensic podiatry is the knowledge of the science of foot, footprints, gait and footwear to be used in crime scene investigation. Dr Kewal Krishan, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, Panjab University, Chandigarh will present the research in collaboration with Dr John DiMaggio- USA a renowned forensic podiatrist on ‘Forensic podiatry: a great help in crime scene investigation’ in 71st Annual Scientific conference of American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA from 18-23 February, 2019. This is the largest forum of forensic scientists all over the world and more than 5000 forensic scientists attend this conference every year. DNA profiling, fingerprints, facial characteristics, hair, lip prints, and other characteristics of the human body have been successfully used by the investigating agencies/police to identify and catch the criminals since decades. Like these features, human foot and footprints are also unique to an individual. The variability of the footprints in individuals is enough to enable individualization in forensic examinations. This has been shown in a series of investigations conducted by Dr Kewal Krishan and his collaborator from USA, Dr John DiMaggio- a renowned forensic podiatrist. This research has been accepted by American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). In the last decade, many methods of identification from foot and footprints have been developed which are successfully used in USA, UK, Australia and many countries of Europe to identify the criminals; however, in India, the footprints science is still considered as a rudimentary science. Its use in the criminal investigation is further restricted due to its less awareness amongst investigation agencies in India. The footprints are available almost at every crime scene in a variety of forms such as bare footprints, socked footprints or footwear prints. However, the police and the investigating agencies should be aware that how to search, secure and lift the footprints from the crime scene. Dr Krishan is a renowned forensic anthropologist and published more than 180 papers in reputed journals of forensic sciences and anthropology. He has more than 3000 citations of his research work. He recently contributed invited chapters to the most coveted Encyclopedias of Forensic Sciences, Legal Medicine and ArchaeologicalSciences published by Elsevier and Wiley, USA.

An intra-hostel Chess and Carrom Competition was held at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall, Boys Hostel 4, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Competition was co-ordinated by Kapil Sharma and Gurinderjit Singh, Block Prefects of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Hall which received over whelming response from the hostel residents. Lauding the initiative, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Emanual Nahar said that Sports play a great role in our life as it keeps us healthy and active. We can have a healthy mind only when we have a healthy body. Great achievements come our way when we maintain our physical and mental well-being and sports help us to maintain a good health and improve coordination and overall personality of an individual. It makes a person more active, attentive and enhances his mental and physical capabilities. Prof. Nahar further said that as sports instill many values and virtues, every student should involve themselves in the sports activity even for a small time all through the day as it does not provide only physical strength however it increases mental power too. After tough rounds of competition, Ravi Chand Sharma stood first in Chess competition, and Atul Kumar got second position. In Carrom (singles) competition Ishan Guleria (5/28) bagged first position and Rohit Kumar Chaurasiya (4/5) got second position. In Carrom (doubles) competition team of Ishan Guleria (5/28) and Shagun Nag (3/52) ranked first and team of Rohit Kumar Chaurasiya (4/5) and Vijay Kumar (4/24) were second.

A group of students pursuing Masters in Governance and Leadership from Panjab University, Chandigarh visited Parliament House to witness the functioning during session and interaction with various leaders. This visit was facilitated by Prof. Pam Rajput, Course Co-ordinator and Fellow, Panjab University, Chandigarh. This group could witness the session for one hour. Students interacted with National leaders like Shri Lal Krishan Advani, Shri Anurag Thakur, Shri Jai Shankar, Shri Rahul Gandhi, Ms.  Kumari Shelja and Smt. Hema Malini. Prof. Rajput took the group to Indian International Centre too and brief about its activities. Madam, Rajput is very enthusiast about the success of this Course on Governance and Leadership towards nation building.

प्यार हमेशा एक से और सच्चा करना चाहिए न कि अलग अलग से । सच्चा प्यार मुश्किल से किस्मत से मिलता है । इसे ऐसे ही खोना नहीं चाहिए । कुछ ऐसा ही संदेश देता है नए उभरते गायक शुभम लोधी के 14 फरवरी को यू ट्यूब और म्यूजिक चैनल पर लांच होने वाला सूफी सैड लव गीत "हंजू-दी टीयर्स"। चंडीगढ़ प्रेस क्लब में सोमवार को सूफी सैड लव गीत " हंजू-दी टीयर्स " गीत की औपचारिक घोषणा की गई। गाने का वीडियो डायरेक्शन नवीन ने किया है और यू साउंड रिकॉर्ड कपंनी से भिंदा खेला ने प्रोड्यूस किया है । वीडियो डायरेक्टर नवीन ने बताया कि वो काफी पंजाबी फिल्मों के  गाने की कोरियोग्राफी कर चुके है । इसके अलावा साउथ के एक गीत कनमनी, हाई कोर्ट किल्लर समाईल का भी वीडियो निर्देशन कर चुके है, यह गीत साउथ चार्टबस्टर के टॉप 10 में शामिल है। पंजाबी गायक कलेर कंठ के गीत चाहत का भी वो वीडियो निर्देशन कर चुके है । गीत के गायक शुभम लोधी ने बताया कि गाना गहरे और सच्चे प्यार पर आधारित है । 04 मिनट का यह गाना एक सूफी सैड रोमांटिक गाना है, और यह गाना 14 फरबरी वैलेंटाइन  पर यू ट्यूब और चैनल्स पर लांच किया जाएगा । प्रोड्यूसर भिंदा खेला ने बताया कि निकट भविष्य में भी उनकी कंपनी इसी प्रकार के सूफी गाने बनाती रहेगी । जिससे कि लोगों मे सूफी गानों के प्रति ज्यादा से ज्यादा रुझान बढ़े। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि सूफी गानों लोगों में एक अलग ही क्रेज है । इस गाने में भी सूफी गायकी को मद्देनजर रखते हुए ही सच्चे प्यार को दर्शाया गया है ।

वक्फ बोर्ड, चण्डीगढ़ के सदस्य नौशाद अली ने आज पूर्व डिप्टी मेयर व नगर निगम के वार्ड नं. 24  के पार्षद अनिल दुबे से भेंट कर उन्हें इस वार्ड के अंतर्गत पड़ते ईदगाह-दरगाह व कब्रिस्तान के समस्यायों से अवगत करते हुए बताया कि हाउसिंग बोर्ड चौक के पास मेन रोड पर स्थित मुस्लिम समुदाय की सबसे बड़ी ईदगाह-दरगाह व मौलीजागरां-विकासनगर स्थित कब्रिस्तान में लो-मास्ट लाइट्स एवं रास्ते को पक्का करने हेतु टाइल्स लगवाने की मांग की । इसके अलावा कब्रिस्तान में उबड़-खाबड़ जगहों में मिट्टी भराई करने व इसकी फेंसिंग करने की भी मांग की । नौशाद अली के साथ इस मौके पर उक्त कब्रिस्तान के इंचार्ज मेहबूब सलमानी भी मौजूद थे । अनिल दुबे ने ध्यानपूर्वक इन मांगों के बारे में जाना व इन्हें जल्द हल करने का आश्वासन दिया । उन्होंने कहा की वे जल्द ही सम्बंधित अधिकारियों के साथ इन जगहों का दौरा करेंगे व एस्टीमेट निकलवा कर अपने वार्ड फण्ड से ये काम प्राथमिकता के आधार पर कराएंगे । गौरतलब है कि ईद के मौके पर यहां हज़ारों की तादात में लोग नमाज पढ़ते हैं ।

चंडीगढ़ विकास महामंच द्वारा 25 वां सरस्वती पूजन व संस्कृति कार्यक्रम का आयोजन छठ पूजा स्थल गेट नंबर 1 दरिया में बड़ी धूमधाम के साथ आयोजित किया गया । आयोजक व मंच के अध्यक्ष सुनील गुप्ता ने बताया कि इस समारोह में केपी सिन्हा, प्रिंसिपल सेक्टरी, पंजाब व,संजय कुमार, चीफ सेक्टरी, पंजाब संजय झा, विशेष आयुक्त, चण्डीगढ़ नगर निगम ने मुख्य अतिथि के तौर पर  शिरकत की। कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत माँ सरस्वती के पूजन से हुई । तत्पश्चात दोपहर में विशाल भंडारे का आयोजन भी किया गया । बाद में देर शाम को  सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम में टी-सीरीज कलाकार सरिता सरगम व अमित उपाध्याय ने अपनी प्रस्तुति दी । नगर निगम अधिकारी संजय कुमार झा गांव में बने छठ पूजा स्थल का भी जायजा लिया व इसको और दुरुस्त कराने का आश्वासन दिया । पंजाब के प्रिंसिपल सेक्रेट्री आईएस केपी सिन्हा ने कार्यक्रम में अपने हाथों से लोगों को लंगर बरताया । इस अवसर पर महर्षि दयानंद  स्कूल, दडुआ के बच्चों ने भी बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढ़ाओ विषय पर आधारित  व फौजियों के संघर्ष का वर्णन करते नाटक प्रस्तुत कर अच्छा संदेश दिया । यहां प्रदर्शित भोले शंकर पार्वती की झांकियां भी आकर्षण का केंद्र रहीं । संजय कुमार चीफ सेक्रेटरी पंजाब ने कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत करने वाले बच्चों को पुरस्कृत किया ।

 भारतीय जनता पार्टी चंडीगढ़ द्वारा चलाये जाने वाले अभियान “मेरा परिवार, भाजपा परिवार” का शुभारम्भ पार्टी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष संजय टंडन मंगलवार को अपने निवास स्थान से शुरू करेंगे | वे इस अभियान की शुरआत अपने घर पर पार्टी का ध्वज और एक स्टीकर लगा कर करेंगे | यह जानकारी पार्टी के प्रदेश महासचिव चंद्र शेखर ने प्रदान की | उन्होंने कहा कि इसके उपरान्त प्रदेश अध्यक्ष संजय टंडन जिला नंबर 3 और जिला नंबर 4 के सभी मंडल अध्यक्षों के घरों पर जायेंगे और उनके घरों में भी अपने हाथों से झंडा और स्टीकर लगाएंगे | इसके जिला नंबर 3 और 4 के पदाधिकारी और सभी कार्यकर्ता अपने अपने घरों में झंडा चढ़ाएंगे और स्टीकर लगाएंगे | उन्होंने बताया कि इसके बाद 13 फ़रवरी को वे जिला नंबर 1,2 और 5 में जायेंगे और ऐसे ही वहां पर शुरआत करेंगे | साथ ही सभी कार्यकर्ता फोटो झंडा और स्टीकर लगाते हुए अपनी अपनी फोटो खींच कर उसको हैश टैग करेंगे l
