Saluting the nation and its freedom
fighters on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, the
Scientific, Technical and Administrative Staff of CSIR-CSIO marked the occasion
by unfurling of the National Flag. Prof. Dr. S. Anantha Ramakrishna, Director,
CSIR-CSIO unfurled the National Flag in the lawn in front of Technology Block
of CSIR-CSIO. Addressing the gathering Prof. Ramakrishna said that on this
occasion let us pledge to come out of a self-centered viewpoint to a nation
centered focus taking inspiration from our freedom fighters and do everything
for the benefit of the nation regardless of the disadvantages to ourselves. He
said that for a Scientist, freedom means academic freedom and freedom of ideas,
thought and expression and freedom from feudal western science that is imposed
on us. He said that during the last year many new steps have been taken in CSIO
like 911 KW solar plan has been established in CSIO campus for energy freedom,
Initiation of sewage treatment and vermi-composting plan, tree plantation etc.
He said that CSIO has led in efforts to mitigate Covid-19 by developing UVC
light-based sanitizers for halls, busses, trains and shops, electrostatic spray
sanitizers for large spaces, Air samplers etc. He said that many good
publications have come up by CSIO in that past year and the organisation has
bagged many prestigious awards besides transferring many technologies and
signing of important MoUs. He said that the CSIO family is doing well but not
well enough to attain leadership in the country and he exhorted the scientists
to rededicate themselves to attain excellence in their efforts in the service
of the nation. The address of Prof. Ramakrishna concluded with everyone present
in echoing the slogan of Jai Hind. The CSIO family listened to patriotic songs
