GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna organized a magnificent freshers’ party to welcome the batch of 2018-19. The very purpose of Freshers’ party was to introduce the newcomers with the congenial atmosphere of the college and to encourage their creative impulses so as to boost their confidence. The ceremony began with address speech by Principal Dr. Sunil K. Baria followed by Ganesh Vandana. After that a colorful bonanza of cultural performances was presented by the students which included folk dances and folk songs. A Fashion Show was conducted wherein the freshers introduced themselves and displayed their talents. Shubham Pundir and Shinam Sehgal were selected as Mr. and Ms. Fresher. Nikhil and Shikha Mittal bagged the titles of Mr. Confident and Ms. Confident while Satinder Singh and Muskan were adjudged as Mr. Swag and Ms. Charming respectively.

Today 24.6.2014,  Today meeting of  Executive body of Coordination Committee of Govt and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh will be held at CTU workshop Sector 25 Chandigarh for gave final touch of strike will be held on 26.9.2018. While addressing the meeting Sh Ashwani Kumar, Convenor of Coordination Committee of Govt and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh that the Chandigarh administration is adamant enough to accept the genuine and principal accepted demands of the employees there is every apprehension that some of the offices Chandigarh Administration are willing to create rift between the employees and Chandigarh administration as Chandigarh administration has not even called the employees for negotiation and respect of their demands the employees are not only anguish over but feel humiliated with the anti employees attitude of the Chandigarh Administration I would like to feel regret for the inconvenience being done by the employees due to strike on 26th September I further would like to request that the sole responsibility for the inconvenience to the general public Sylvester porn with Chandigarh Administration.
                Meeting was also addressed by Sh Jaswant Singh, Co-Convenor of Coordination Committee of Govt and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh, Sh Rakesh Kumar Advisor of Coordination Committee of Govt and MC Employees and Workers UT Chandigarh Sh Anil Kumar, President M.C. Horticulture Employees Union, Sh Surinder Kumar, General Secretary, Public Helath Workers Union, Sh A S Randawa, President, United Front Public Health Workers Union etc.

Rotary Club of Chandigarh conferred the Rotary Nation Builders Award 2018 on 26 city teachers here today.  Shri B.D. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Education of the Chandigarh Administration, gave away the awards and complimented the teachers for their contribution to the nation building.  Rtn A P Singh, President of Rotary Chandigarh informed that teachers were selected from 9  government and 6 private schools in Chandigarh on the basis of their performance and internal assessment. Each awardee, 9 from the government schools and 17 from other schools were conferred the Nation Builder Award 2018  
     The awardees included Paramjit Kaur, Govt. Model. Sr. Sec. School, Sector 38 (West), Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 39; Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Dhanas; Baljinder Kaur, Govt. Model School, Khuda Ali Sher; Mrs. Anjula Sharma, Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Karsan; Narender Kumar, Govt. Middle School, Burail; Shelly Sharma, Govt. Middle School, Bapudham Colony, Sector 26; Meetika, Govt. High School, Sarangpur; Amrinder Singh Amar, Govt. Middle School, Palsora Colony; From amongst other schools, awardees included Sonali, and Inderjeet Kaur from Guru Harkrishan Public School; Harlivleen Kaur, Kunika Sharma, Sushma Arora and Mini Puri from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.  Nina Pandey, Aditi Ahluwalia, Achint Kaurand Niti Singh from DPS Chandigarh; Mridula Sharma, Amrit Sharma and Usha Chadha from St John’s High School; Usha Chadda and Gauri Kapoor from Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education; Amandeep Kaur and Jaswinder Kaur from Ajit Karam Singh International Public School; Chandigarh; and Ritu Sharma of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. Public School. On this occasion District Governor Praveen Chander Goyal complimented the Club and the awardee teachers, and said that Rotary India Literacy Mission is an initiative of Rotarians in south Asia to promote literacy in this entire region by encouraging teachers, promoting elearning, child development and setting up of Happy Schools. Rotary District 3080 Literacy Chair, PDG Manpreet Singh Gandhoke, along with other senior Rotarians attended the function.

As part of the ongoing Poshan Maah activities, Government Home Science College organized a one day workshop on food safety and adulteration. Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Designated Officer, Food Safety Administration, GMSH-16 delivered a presentation on importance of eating not only healthy, but safe food as well. He spoke about the role of FSSAI and importance of quality standards. Household methods of testing food adulteration and common adulterants found in food were discussed. This was followed by a demonstration on adulteration. Food products such as milk and milk products, spices like hing, black pepper, mustard seeds, salt, red chilli powder and pulses such as masoor dal, moong dal were also tested for presence of any adulterants.

In Extempore Competition organised by Bio Technology Dept students made presentions on diverge topics,informed Prof Promila Malik, HOD Bio tech dept. Botany and Environment departments came together to organise Model Exhibition in which over 50students participated and showcased different models, informed Prof Geetanjali Sharma, HOD Botany Prof Rama Arora Principal, lauded the hard work of the faculty and appreciated students zeal in coming forward in huge numbers in such events.

Miss Ayushi Aggarwal of MA1English won Miss Pearl Title. Miss Anu Doda  got Miss Diamond Title And the coveted title of Miss Fresher was awarded to Miss Amisha. Winners were given prizes by the chief guest  Mrs Gagandeep kaur and Principal Prof Rama Arora.
