A Special lecture on “Forensic Science: Ballistics and Fire Arms” in Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University has been conducted for the students and scholars. Dr. L.S. Rana was the key speaker of the day.  Dr. Rana enlightened the students with his theoretical and practical knowledge on ballistics and fire arms.  He also demonstrated the procedures and various methods of investigation of Ballistics and fire Arms Cases. According to Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairperson Police Administration, this kind of lecture is an important aspect of police procedure and the knowledge of these aspects is essential for the students of police administration. 60 students and faculty members of Police Administration have participated in the lecture.

Professor Fusao Kato, Member of the Science Council of Japan, former Vice-President and current Board Member of the Physiological Society of Japan, Board Member of the Japanese Society of Pharmacology, Japanese Association for Study of Pain and Japanese Society of Neurodegenerative Research delivered his lecture on “Energetic interaction at synapses between neurons and glial cells”. He started the day with a talk on the emotional basis of pain. He discussed the changes in different regions of the brain during pain experience and how these pain associated sensory input build the emotional (unpleasant or fear) memory of pain. In his talk, he also addressed the physiological meaning and significance of chronic pain induced negative emotion in humans. Dr Sanjay Khanna, a PU alumnus from Department of Physiology, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore focused on acute pain have led to an accumulation of knowledge related to anatomy, physiology and pharmacology of pain pathways.  Acute pain is also well managed clinically.  However, the treatment of chronic pain is as yet an unmet need.  Chronic pain is not only aversive, it is also marked by altered perception and includes changes in sensitivity to peripheral stimulation.  An often under-appreciated effect of chronic pain is that the ‘brain health’ is negatively affected.  The changes in CNS include macroscopic and microscopic alteration in structure, changed neural transmission, and modification in neurogenesis. Interestingly, many of these alterations are observed in a network of limbic and cortical structures that are traditionally associated with reward, defensive behaviors, and learning and memory.  Indeed, chronic pain is co-morbid with changes in lifestyle related to affect, mood and learning and memory.  In this presentation he I explored neural changes in limbic regions, especially septo-hippocampus that interface between peripheral injury and chronic pain.

श्री वधावन जागरण मंडल द्वारा आज चंडीगढ़ में श्री सिद्ध बाबा बालक नाथ की शोभा यात्रा निकाली गई जिसे चंडीगढ़ भाजपा अध्यक्ष संजय टंडन ने सैक्टर 22  डी के त्रिवेणी मंदिर से हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया । यह शोभा यात्रा सैक्टर  22,  21,  20,  30, 29, 28, 27, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 24, 23, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 31, 32, 33 से होते हुए सैक्टर 34 के मेला ग्राउंड में समाप्त हुई । भाजपा प्रदेश मीडिया संयोजक रविंद्र पठानीया ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि शोभायात्रा को रवाना करने से पहले संजय टंडन ने त्रिवेणी मंदिर में दीप प्रज्वलन और आरती की । उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि सेक्टर  34 के मे लाग्राउंड में ही 2 दिसंबर को श्री बाबा बालक नाथ का विशाल ‘मेला जोगीदा’ का आयोजन किया जाएगा । शोभा यात्रा के शुभारंभ के समय स्वास्थ्य विभाग के निदेशक जी. दिवान, पी.जी.आई के निदेशक डा. जगतराम, पार्षद रविकांत शर्मा,  शक्ती देव शाली, मंडल अध्यक्ष कपिल शर्मा मौजूद रहे ।

कॉलोनी नं. 4 में आज नगर कांग्रेस के महासचिव शशिशंकर तिवारी ने एक कैम्प लगाकर मकान मिलने से रह गए लगभग 1000 लोगों के फॉर्म भरे। उन्होंने भाजपा व चण्डीगढ़ प्रशासन पर बरसते हुए कहा कि मलोया में करीब 5000 मकान कांग्रेस के समय से बनकर तैयार हैं परन्तु राजनितिक फायदे व श्रेय लेने के चक्कर में प्रधानमंत्री के आने का इन्तजार किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि इनको गरीब जनता की ओर ध्यान देने से ज्यादा अपनी राजनीति चमकाने की पड़ी है व चुनाव का इन्तजार किया जा रहा है। तिवारी ने बताया कि कॉलोनी नं. 4 के जिन लगभग 1000  लोगो के फॉर्म भरे गए हैं उनकी ओर से प्रधानमंत्री को पत्र लिखा गया है जिसमें इनका पुनर्वास करने की फ़रियाद की गयी है। इसके अलावा ये भी मांग की गई है कि 2018 तक जिन लोगों के पास वोटर कार्ड व आधार कार्ड हैं उन सभी को पक्के मकान दिए जाएँ । तिवारी ने उपस्थित लोगों को सम्बोधित करते हुए कहा कि स्थानीय भाजपा ने चण्डीगढ़ झुग्गी-झोपडी वालों के लिए कुछ नहीं किया। पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री पवन बंसल ने झुग्गी-झोपडी वालों का वर्ष 2006 तक बायोमेट्रिक सर्वे कराया था भाजपा ने उसके बाद इनकी कोई सुध नहीं ली। तिवारी ने कहा कि आने वाले चुनाव में कांग्रेस की जीत पक्की है और सत्ता में आते ही पहले इनकी तरफ ही ध्यान दिया जाएगा। इस मौके पर उपस्थित मुख्य नेताओं में जिलाध्यक्ष अजय जोशी, ब्लॉक अध्यक्ष हरीश छाबड़ा, यादविंदर मेहता, विजय यादव, विनय मिश्रा, अजय शर्मा, मंजीत कुमार पिंटू, रोहित यादव टिनी, सरोज कुमार झा, बबली मिश्रा, अरुण सिंह, दिनेश यादव, उमेश यादव, धर्मराज शुक्ल, झूरी यादव, साधू, जनार्दन उपाध्याय, वंश गोपाल पण्डे, डॉ. अनीस अहमद, अरुण कुमार चौधरी, प्रमोद कुमार पीके व जितेंदर कुमार आदि शामिल थे।

Constitution Day was celebrated in Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, on  November 26, 2018. A special talk was organized on the occasion and was delivered by Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur, Head, Department of Political Science of the college. The students were enlightened about the Constitution of India, a truly unique document. An essay writing competition was also held where more than 30 students participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. It was followed by an open house quiz, to acquaint students with the Indian Constitution and its salient features. Vice Principal of the college, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, in her address, threw light on the significance of celebrating Constitution Day.

Nek Chand, the Civil Engineering students of Aryans College of Engineering, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh have also made few useful things with the waste plastic bottles at its Campus. Giving more information about the products, Ms. Rajdeep Kaur, HoD, Civil Dept said that students have made a sitting bench with waste plastic bottles on which 4-5 persons can sit comfortably. B.Tech Final year Students of Civil Engineering dept namely Nitesh Kumar, Bablu Chowdhary, Faizan, Oman Khan, Sonu Kumar, Ishfaq etc with the motto of making the Campus Plastic-free have taken this small initiative to reuse the waste plastic bottles for making this useful product. Not only this, these students with the help of Agriculture students under the leadership of Mr. Dheeraj, HoD Agriculture Dept have also made a mini Green House plant with the help of waste bottles to shield plantlets from excess cold or heat and unwanted pests for their own in-house crops. Apart from around 1800 bottles, Cement, Sand, bamboo etc of around Rs 1200/- has also been spent on these products. Prof B.S Sidhu, Director, Aryans Group said that in this era of innovations costly commodities are not necessarily required to bring some change in the society but we can also reuse and tailor the waste things to get the desired products. With this we can also make the surrounding & environment plastic and pollution free.

जो लोग विवाह ज्योतिषीय मुहूर्तों का अनुसरण कर विवाह करने में विशवास रखते हैं , उनके लिए घोड़ी या डोली चढ़ने के दिसंबर महीने में मात्र दो दिन ही मिलेंगे । यदि इससे चूक गए तो 2019 के 15 जनवरी तक उन्हें प्रतीक्षा करनी पड़ेगी क्योंकि दिसंबर में केवल 12 और 13 तारीख को ही शुभ मुहूर्त हैं। इसका कारण है कि विवाह मुहूर्त विचार में गुरु तथा शुक्र्र , दो ग्रहों का आकाश मंडल में अच्छी स्थिति में होना आवश्यक है। गुरु 10 नवंबर को अस्त होे गया था और 7 दिसंबर को  को पूर्व में उदित होगा। परंतु विवाह मुहूर्तों में अन्य कई योग भी शुभ होने आवश्यक है, जिसके कारण  12 और 13 दिसंबर को ही शुभ विवाह मुहूर्त बनते हैं । यदि आप को विवाह करना बहुत आवश्यक है तो किसी रविवार को अभिजीत मुहूर्त जो लगभग  दिसंबर व जनवरी में दोपहर 11 बजकर 40 मिनट से लेकर 12 बजकर 24 मिनट तक रहेगा, इस मध्य कर सकते हैं। इस अवधि में किया गया कोई भी आवश्यक कार्य सफल होता है विशेषतः जब रविवार को किया जाए। इसी लिए हमारे कई समुदायों में रविवार को ठीक मध्यान्ह पर लावें फेरे लेने की प्रथा चली आ रही है । 16 दिसंबर से पौष मास लग जाएगा जिसमें विवाह अशुभ माने गए हैं। लोहड़ी व 14 जनवरी ,2019 को मकर संक्राति से शुभ कार्य आरंभ होंगे ।        पौष मास में विवाह या उससे संबंधित कार्य नहीं किए जाने चाहिए, ऎसा निर्देश धर्म शास्त्र के किसी भी ग्रंथ में नहीं है इसीलिए

लगभग सभी पंचांगों में पौष महीने के विवाह मुहूर्त छापेजाते हैंधर्म सिंधु ग्रंथ के अनुसार मकर राशि में सूर्य होने पर पौष मास

IBRO/APRC Chandigarh Neuroscience School, a very First International Event to celebrate Platinum Jubilee Year of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, fully funded by International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) was inaugurated by Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE), New Delhi at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, stressed on fostering Quality Education and Research in Indian institutions and urged to sensitize young generation with strong ethics in both personal and professional life. He explained the neuroscience in very unique and innovative manner. Dr Sahasrabudhe released a logo specifically designed to commemorate Platinum Jubilee celebrations of UIPS and an abstract book of IBRO School was also release by the dignitaries. Dr Fusao Kato, Japan and Dr Anthony J. Hannan, Australia will be the “Guests of Honor”. The School is organized under the esteemed patronage of Professor S K Kulkarni, Former DUI, Panjab University, Professor Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Chairperson, UIPS and Professor Anil Kumar, UIPS, Panjab University,Chandigarh. Organizing Secretary, Dr Anurag Kuhad, Program Coordinator DST Inspire & Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences informed that out of 150 applications from Asia-Pacific region, we have selected eighty five participants (ten International participants from five countries and sixty five National participants from fourteen states and Union territories of India) including Master’s, PhDs, Post-Doc and few faculty members to attend and present their research work at this international neuroscience venture. This School will provide an excellent platform to facilitate scientific interactions among International as well National junior and senior neuroscientists and will foster future neuroscience research collaborations. Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dr Neelima Dhingra, Dr Jai Malik and Dr Sangeeta P Sah organized various activities during the school. Professor V R Sinha, Professor O P Katare, Professor B S Bhoop, Professor Indu Pal Kaur, Professor Ranju Bansal, Professor Poonam Piplani, Dr Vandita Kakkar and Dr Amita Sarwal were present during the function.IBRO School is funded by IBRO finance committee, USA. In addition, IBRO/APRC Chandigarh Neuroscience School received whole hearted appreciation and financial support from Panjab University, Medical Council of India (MCI), Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), New Delhi.
