Today Road Safety Awareness Team of Chandigarh Traffic police(CTP) consisting of Sh. Jaswinder singh DY.S.P(Road safety ) ASI Bhupinder singh , HC Jagroop singh , Vol Sambhar in association with Wg Comd C.S ( CTM) Grewal and his team of Traffic Marshals conducted a workshop on traffic rules and road safety measures for Students of Chitkara University Rajpura Punjab. A total of 450 Students along with faculty members attended this road safety awareness workshop. This workshop was conducted on the request of Mr. Ravi Kapila of this university. In this workshop the participants were made aware about the Motor Vehicles Act. 1988 and its Amendment made Since 1st September 2019, Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, Motor Vehicles Regulation 2017. Through Traffic Marshals play namely "PAIGAM ", Road Safety Awareness videos and songs of Asi Bhupinder Singh the participants were educated and made awarded about the effects and consequences thereof on the following points:-
.Impact of Mobile phone uses with air plug upon pedestrian , cyclist and Motor Vehicles Drivers .Importance of wearing proper safety head gear (helmet of BIS standers I.S.I Mark.
.Importance of wearing seat belt
.Importance of road signage ,road markings and Traffic light signals
.Impact of Drunken driving.
.Importance of Lane driving and how to change lane.
.Importance of rear / side mirrors and mirror check after indicator and before turning Left/right or changing lane .
Unnecessary honking and its effect.
.Importance of pedestrian Zebra crossing and how to cross the road safely.
A quiz was also held amongst the participants and Ten (10) student winners were awarded with trophies.
Road safety Pamphlets each of traffic road signage , helmet , lane driving , pedestrian crossing, (800) No Honking stickers, were distributed to the participants.
Copies of Motor Vehicle Driving Regulation 2017 , was also provided to the faculty members and requested to deliver more copies of the same to their students.
A pledge to follow and obey traffic rules was also undertaken by all the participants.
