WORKSHOP ON FOOD SAFETY AND ADULTERATION AT HSC 10

As part of the ongoing
Poshan Maah activities, Government Home Science College organized a one day
workshop on food safety and adulteration. Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Designated
Officer, Food Safety Administration, GMSH-16 delivered a presentation on
importance of eating not only healthy, but safe food as well. He spoke about
the role of FSSAI and importance of quality standards. Household methods of
testing food adulteration and common adulterants found in food were discussed. This
was followed by a demonstration on adulteration. Food products such as milk and
milk products, spices like hing, black pepper, mustard seeds, salt, red chilli
powder and pulses such as masoor dal, moong dal were also tested for presence
of any adulterants.
