Chandigarh Ranks First among Union Territories
for Maximum Improvement in Infant Mortality Rate

Chandigarh has bagged the National Award and
has been accorded 1st rank (among Union Territories) for maximum improvement in
Infant Mortality Rate today at the 5th National Summit – “Good and
Replicable Practices in Public Healthcare Systems in India 2018” at
Kaziranga, Assam. Sh. Jagat Parkash Nadda, Hon'ble Union Health Minister
of India presented the award to Dr. G Dewan, Mission Director cum Director
Health, U.T., Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Sarbananda Sonowal,
Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam and other distinguished personalities of the
Government of Assam & Union Health Secretary of India, Smt. Preeti
Sudan. The Ministry of Health
& Family Welfare, Govt. of India has organized the National Summit on “Good
& Replicable Practices & Innovations in Public Health Care System in
India” to capture and share the best practices and innovations at various
levels of health services delivery and program implementation under the
National Health Mission (NHM). With an objective to share and learn from
the fine practices and innovations implemented by different States/UTs and
organizations, these summits work towards addressing various health challenges
and managing public health programs.
