ADVISER ADDRESSES THE ISSUES RAISED BY MUNICIPAL CORPORATION COUNCILORS OF WARD NO.1 TO 9

A meeting was held today under the
Chairmanship of Adviser to Administrator, Sh. Dharam Pal, to address the
demands of Municipal Corporation Councilors from Ward no. 1 to 9. Mayor Smt.
Sarabjit Kaur, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Smt. Anindita Mitra,
Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Sh. Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator
Forests, Sh. Yashpal Garg, Secretary Health, Sh. Kuldip Singh Chahal, SSP
other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration, Councillors from
Ward No. 1 to 9, were present. The councilors discussed about the
developmental projects pending in their wards. Some of the issues were
beautification of entry points of handigarh,
re-carpeting and maintenance of roads. On this, the Adviser assured that
he will personally inspect all the entry points of the city. He also shared
that maintenance of roads has to be made a regular feature for which directions
were passed to the concerned team. It was also stressed that the schools in
these wards shall be inspected by a committee consisting of Director School
Education, Chief Engineer, Chief Architect, Municipal Corporation Engineers in
the presence of the area councillor. Playgrounds for children in the
colonies were also proposed, on which the Adviser ensured that steps will be
take at the earliest. Taking serious view of drinking in open or in-parked
vehicles especially in Sector 7, 8, 9, 10 and 26, it was directed that the
police shall take strict action against the violators. The councillors also
suggested that at least one community centre should be set up in one ward. The
Adviser asked the officers to work out the modalities to set up community
centers in these areas on PPP model. It was also brought to the notice of the
Adviser about the serious concern of hanging and loose electric wires in the
various parts of the city. Sh. Dharam Pal asked the officials concerned to repair
the same in a time bound manner to avoid any accident The rising issue of
vehicle parking in the parks in Manimajra, Mauli Jagran and other areas was
tabled before the Adviser. He has issued directions to the police to impound
all such unauthorised vehicles and tolerate no such violations in future. Monkey
menace in Sector 7 and 8, shifting of sector 26 grain market to sector 39 etc
were also discussed at length with the officials. The Adviser assured the
counillors regarding fulfillment of their demands and directed the concerned
departments to work speedily in this direction following a deadline.
All councillors thanked the Adviser to Administrator for holding this
coordination meeting with them and expressed hope that their issues shall be
resolved expeditiously.
