US Embassy Officer on courtesy visit to PU

Mr. Pete Broadbent, Economic Officer for North India from
US Embassy, New Delhi made a courtesy visit to meet Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice
Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. They deliberated on
future opportunities for collaboration with USA Government in presence of
Associate Director, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Prof. Upinder Sawhney, Chairperson,
Department of Economics and Dr. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Department of Chemistry,
Panjab University, Chandigarh. PU VC in his informal interactions expressed his
openness for collaboration with US. He desired to establish a world class
Centre in PU Campus in collaboration with top US Institutes. Mr. Pete informed
about their mandate which broadly covers Exchange Programmes, Green Technology,
Entrepreneurship, Clean Water, Gender issues with special emphasis on programmes
related women sensitizations. Dr. Chaudhary briefed them about various Indo-US
initiatives. Apart from research, he informed about the International Graduate
Programme on Applied Sciences and Green Technologies that will cater to the
contemporary demands of highly trained minds in industry for developing
sustainable Green Technologies. Mr. Pete appreciated various initiatives being
taken by PU and urged them to promote it further.
