CSIR-CSIO ORGANIZES TWO DAY WORKSHOP FOR
MENTORING BUDDING INNOVATORS

To
attract talent at early stage, and have them exposed to a critical human
resource pool, CSIR-CSIO has organized a two day workshop on 26-27 November
2018 to mentor 11 students from Punjab and 6 students from Chandigarh
region, to convert their ideas into prototype and to show it in best possible
form before National level exhibition and project competition of.”Innovation in
Science Pursuit for inspired research” (INSPIRE) which is one of the flagship
programme of National Innovation Foundation (NIF), an autonomous body of the
Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Starting in 2008,
10,00,000 ideas were received from all over India out of which 1,00,000 were
shortlisted. At district level 10,000 were selected from which 1,000 made it to
the state level. Professor R. K. Sinha, Director CSIR-CSIO, while interacting
with the students encouraged them by saying that as a part of India's national
initiative to strengthen the grassroots technological innovations and
outstanding traditional knowledge CSIO is driven to help India become a
creative and knowledge based society by expanding policy and institutional
space for grassroots technological innovators among the students. He
further added that CSIO is committed to mentor knowledge-rich, economically poor
people of the country who have developed technological innovations in any field
of human survival without any outside help.
