Chandigarh organized Five Day “ EDP ”

The
five day “Executive Development Programme” which is organized by Association
of Indian College Principals, registered body at National level for college Principals
in collaboration with Panjab University, Chandigarh, started here today. Professor
Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, PU while appreciating the efforts of Dr.Parvinder
Singh, Controller of Examination and Dr. R.K.Mahajan, Fellow and Member Syndicate
alongwith Dean, College Development Council Professor Sanjay Kaushik for organising
this EDP at PU, said that it is a very vibrant platform where seasoned College
Principals will be deliberating on the sensitive issues of higher education. Particularly
issues related to Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), National Institutional
Ranking Framework (NIRF), Intellectual Property (IPR), Capacity Building and
Corporate Social Responsibility General Secretary of AICP Principal
Dr.R.K.Mahajan informed that this programme was first of its kind
at Panjab University and this will long way in serving the students
community and the Colleges in a fruitful manner. Chairman, Board of
Trustees AICP Dr.V.R.Shirgurkar presented the keynote address and
informed that AICP has conducted several EDPs, conferences and workshops for
college Principals. Sole purpose of this type of programme is to empower the academic
executives to bring excellence in higher education. Dr. Parvinder
Singh gave an elaborative talk on ‘Education Leadership in the context
of RUSA’. He threw light on role of leadership in higher education with emphasis
on infrastructure, funding, evaluation, concept of New Model Colleges and Cluster
Colleges, conversion of College into University. Dr.V.R.Shirgurkar
apprised principals about new Methodology in NAAC. Dr.Sarabjeet Singh of
Nightingale College of Education, Ludhiana sponsored the workshop
kits. Thirty Principals from all over country are participating in
this quality enhancing workshop. Senators Dr.Gurdeep
Sharma, Dr.N.R.Sharma and Dr.IPS Sidhu were also present on the
occasion
