Stones Students Ankit and Sparsh Agarwal
of Class X brought laurels to the school by winning the final round of the 46th
State Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition organised by
the State Council of Education Research and Training. They submitted the
project / model based on an Autonomous
River Cleaning Barrage System under the category ‘Waste Management’. The
system includes an automated garbage cleaning barge accompanied by drones with
its own GPS Tag / Receiver, run using solar cells. Garbage locations are
identified using satellite images and transmitted to the drone(s) as well as
the barge. Thereafter, it starts to collect the floating garbage from the river
water with the help of a conveyer belt and then relocate the same to garbage
processing facilities using drones. Furthermore, in addition to the AUTOMATED BARRAGE SYSTEM, a FARM APPLICATION (APP) developed by
Deepak Jana and Rudransh OF CLASS X (to help the farmers scan for soil
conditions, plan use of fertilisers/plantation/harvesting and marketing their
produce etc) have been awarded the INSPIRE
MANAK Scholarship. INSPIRE is a
programme initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India
to foster scientific temperament amongst youth. Under this scholarship, the
students were granted an amount of Rs. 10,000 each, to develop the selected
project. These projects were selected out of 15 lakh applications pan India,
wherein, only 1 lakh applications were shortlisted for the said scholarship.This
year has been special for Stepping Stones as earlier this year Rahul
Kaushal & Uday Madan of Class X carved a niche for themselves by winning the CBSE National Level Science Exhibition. Their project was a
working model of a MAGLEV (Magnetic Levitation Train) train
