President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, conferred National Award
2018 to Sh. Amit Laddi in recognition of his outstanding work
done towards development of new cost-effective product for manufacture
aimed at improving the life of Persons with Disabilities on ‘International
day of Persons with Disabilities’ at a function held in Vigyan Bhawan, New
Delhi. Sh. Amit
Laddi is currently working as Senior Scientist in Biomedical
Instrumentation Division, CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments, Chandigarh. He
has developed a cost effective and innovative finger gesture based mobility
assistive device control that will cater the needs of persons with locomotor
disability, who want user-friendly innovative mobility solution to live
independently. It comprises of finger gesture control module as well as motion
drive unit that can be attached to any mobility cart easily. This technology is extremely useful for
Divyangjans as well as subjects having weak hand muscles who cannot hold
mechanical Joysticks properly. Union Minister for Social
Justice and Empowerment Shri Thawar chand Gehlot, Ministers of State for Social
Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Shri Ramdas Athawale, Shri
Vijay Sampla, Secretary DEPwD Smt. Shakuntala D. Gamlin and various dignitaries
also graced the occasion.
