Chrysanthemum Show Kick starts at PU

The 11th Chrysanthemum Exhibition organized by Horticulture Division of Panjab University in Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, PU, Chandigarh was inaugurated today by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor Panjab University in the presence of Mrs. Kumar. The Exhibition is on from 18-23, December, 2018. PU VC appreciated the efforts of the Horticulture Division, Panjab University and congratulated the staff of the Division by saying that such green initiatives on part of University help us in getting closer to the nature and creating awareness about environment amongst the masses. He emphasized that it is the duty of all citizens to contribute their bit towards environment and Horticulture Division is doing a great work in this direction. He also appreciated the ambience of Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar was the guest of honour and he applauded the efficiency of the staff of Horticulture Division and motivated them to work with more zeal to achieve better in future. The exhibition had 128 varieties of Chrysanthemums and about 3000 potted plants. 24 different flower arrangements were at display. The visitors appreciated these arrangements and were seen getting their photographs clicked with these arrangements and fountains. Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) apprised those present that like previous years, this 11th edition of Chrysanthemum Exhibition has been organised by the Horticulture Division to mark the advent of spring season. Simultaneously, it gives a message of environment protection to the masses and an pportunity to display the best Chrysanthemum collection of Horticulture Division which have been nurtured with hard work all through the year. The exhibition was attended by eminent officers of the University, PU Fellow, Controller of Examinations, Dean College Development Council, Finance & Development Officer, Dean Student Welfare, Dean Student Welfare (W), Chairpersons, Wardens, Executive Engineers, President PUNTEF, and representatives of other teaching and non teaching unions, Representatives of PUCSC. The event was well attended and appreciated by faculty, staff, students and general public.
