COVID WARRIORS AWARDED ON INDEPENDENCE DAY AT GRIID

Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), sector 31, Chandigarh celebrated 75 th Independence Day in its premises. Prof Jasbinder Kaur, Director- Principal, Government Medical College and Hospital(GMCH), sector 32, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The program began with the flag hoisting followed by the singing of National Anthem. Aarti, Usha and Shika, GRIID special school students portrayed the uniqueness of India and its various colours through their dance performance on ‘Desh mera rangeela’ which got a loud applause. Anjali pursuing degree course also gave a thrilling patriotic performance on song ‘Teri mitti mein mil jaanwan’ which was much appreciated. Teachers also sung a patriotic song. Prof Jasbinder Kaur shared an overview of the various achievements of GRIID. She expressed that it is a moment of pride that students like Aarti , Kalpana, Tanveer, Shiva, Purva, Tushar and Hemant are bringing laurels to GRIID by winning competitions in sports, yoga, dance and fitness at International and National level. She appreciated the dedicated efforts of teachers and therapists for providing their services even during lockdown period. Workshops have been conducted for parents and teaching staff. It’s a privilege to breathe in free India and emphasized that this freedom must be respected and maintained. Tanveer and Kalpana , students of GRIID special school , were awarded for winning gold medal in 1 st Special Olympics Asia Pacific Unified Badminton Championship at Bangkok , Thailand. Appreciation certificates were given to Ms Anisha -Special Educator , Ms Sheetal -Junior Coach , Ms Amandeep –Speech Therapist, supportive staff and drivers of GRIID for performing COVID duties dedicatedly.
