The Department of Information
Technology, Chandigarh Administration has upgraded the website of Chandigarh
Administration (chandigarh.gov.in) under the Accessible India Campaign as per
the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) issued by Union
Government. This will make the website more citizen friendly and increase
overall usability. Secretary Information Technology, Shri. Vinod P. Kavle, IAS,
highlighted that the compliance to the guidelines shall enhance the
Government-Citizen relationship with the overall usability and accessibility.
Director Information Technology, Smt. Nitika Pawar, IAS explained that
following these guidelines, web content shall be accessible to a wider range of
people especially people with disabilities, including blindness, low vision,
deafness/hearing loss and speech disabilities. With the advent of Digital India
Program and focus on multimodal delivery of citizen services, there was an
urgent need to upgrade and align the Chandigarh Administration’s website with
these guidelines; hence the upgraded website is accessible to all under
