Chandigarh Administration opened Tagore
Theatre for various performances today by paying a rich tribute to the great
Playwright and poet Guru Rabindernath Tagore on his 80th death anniversary.
Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak
Akademi presented a programme titled “GEETANJALI” at Tagore Theatre,
Chandigarh. The event was presented celebrating India's 75th Independence Day
celebrations. Director, Cultural Affairs, UT Sh. Sorabh Arora, PCS, being the
chief guest of the evening, inaugurated the function along with the new team of
Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi (CSNA) – Sh. Atul Sharma, Chairman, Sh. Balkar
Sidhu, Vice-Chairman & Sh. Jit Singh, Secretary of CSNA. Punita Bawa
gracefully anchored the show. At the outset Rabindra Sangeet was ably
interpreted by eminent artiste Pt. Subhash Ghosh in various ragas playing Nav
Swar Ragini for the compositions by Rabindranath Tagore. Famous singer Amrita
Gangoli sang various compositions while Avirbhav played Tabla, Bharat played
flute, Shiv Sameer played cajon & Arjit Singh played keyboard. A story
titled Jeevit Aur Mrit by Guru Rabindranath Tagore was brilliantly narrated by
Dr. Navdeep Kaur and Teekam Joshi.
