National Science Week Kickstarts at Panjab University with Bicycle Rally

Panjab University kickstarted the celebrations of National
Science Week ( February 22-28,2022) today with much enthusiasm and a message
for environment as more than 200 students participated in the cycle rally
flagged from PU Campus today. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab
University and Dr Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State Council
for Science and Technology, Chandigarh flagged off the rally. Prof.
Sukhbir Kaur, Fellow, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the special guest on
this occasion. Prof. Raj Kumar encouraged the students to participate in the
Science Week events and also congratulated the organizers for the vibrant start
to the event. Dr. Jatinder Arora interacted with the students and spoke about
the relevance of science and technology not only in our daily lives, but also
in a larger perspective of building a self- reliant India. More than 180
students took part in this 15 Km long cycle ride from the PU Campus to the
Sukhna Lake. T-shirts and refreshments were distributed to all the students.
The aim of this event was to create awareness about the science week being
organised at Panjab University. The week-long celebrations will include a
number of events. The inaugural event will see launch of an exhibition by DRDO
at PU campus. Movie Screenings, Book Fairs, Poster Making Competitions,
Walkathons, Photography contest and many more such events on varied themes of
importance of science and technology will be scheduled during the week.
