Lecture on
“Shadows of Science and Vigyan” at Panjab University

Vigyan Parishad, Chandigarh Chapter of National
Academy of Sciences, India and Department of Mathematics, Panjab
University, Chandigarh organized a lecture on “Shadows of Science and Vigyan” by
Prof. Satish Batnagar, University of Nevada, Los Vegas USA. Professor Bhatnagar did his MA in
Mathematics in 1961 from the Mathematics Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He emphasised that
Science is based on experimentation and basically require similar results in
identical situations. Moreover Vigyan is interpreted as Vishesh Gyan (Special
Knowledge). He said that Science started with the Newton’s Principles of Mechanics
where as Vedas are said to be the original source of Vigyan. Prof. Gurmeet Kaur chaired the
lecture. On behalf of organizers, Prof. I B S Passi presented a momento to the speaker. The lecture was
attended by more than 70 teachers and students.
