53rd Convocation of Indo-Swiss Training Centre (ISTC) was held today CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organization, Chandigarh. Dr. P. J. Singh, Managing Director, Tynor Orthodotics Private Limited, SAS Nagar (Punjab), was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. P. J. Singh while delivering the convocation address said that he would like to congratulate and salute the teachers of ISTC and the parents of the ISTC students who have done an amazing job of creating such a dependable source of talent for the corporate world. He stressed that the students of ISTC are instrumental in the growth of Industry not only in Punjab but in India and abroad. He advised the students to be continuous learners and develop EQ along with IQ.
    Earlier, Professor R. K. Sinha, Director, CSIR-CSIO highlighted the activities of ISTC and welcomed the Chief Guest. He said that often students feel that at the time of convocation the days of hard work are over. He said that on the contrary a new chapter is about to begin. He emphasized that education is a lifelong process. He informed the students that three types of skills are needed in the 21st century. These are cognitive skills such as analytical and critical thinking which academic world provides, Non Cognitive skills such as attitude like honesty, team work, leadership etc. and Technical skills which now the students possess. He said that the alumina of ISTC has made CSIO and ISTC proud by being responsible citizens and contributing to National Development and it is a matter of pride that ISTC enjoys their patronage. With the newly inducted teaching faculty ISTC is poised to reach new horizons and is in a better position than ever and proposals are being received to mentor ISTC type institutions throughout the different parts of the country be it from Gujrat to West Bengal and from Punjab to Kerela and also from countries abroad also. 
    Sh. Narinder Singh Jassal, Vice-Principal, ISTC while presenting the annual report of the Training Centre, informed the gathering with pride ISTC brought laurels to the Institute by bagging various prestigious prizes in different competitions including Mitsubishi Electric Cup and TechInvent. He informed that almost all students have got good placements in companies like HLS Asia Ltd, SML, Fanuc, Titan, Kyowa Design and Technology (India) Ltd, Minda, Exicom Telesystems Ltd, Hindustan Hydraulics, Tynore, Steel Strip , Gillard, Allengers, and VMS Ltd. 

   Later, graduating students were awarded Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas by Professor R. K. Sinha, Director, CSIR-CSIO, while Chief Guest Dr. P. J. Singh gave away the prizes & medals to the students, who had excelled in various fields. This year the number of passing outs and winners of gold & silver medals in various courses are:
