by the inmates of Model Jail, Chandigarh is very popular in Chandigarh city. In
order to provide better recognition and commercial space to products made by
the inmates of Model Jail Chandigarh, Prison Administration has been
participating in various trade-fairs and Melas being organized from time
to time. The administration has already
launched an on-line portal for sale of Jail products for the members of civil
society of tri-city. Prison Administration
was allotted a showroom SCF No. 05-06 in the year 2010 in posh Sector-22
Market. The ground floor of the complex has been renovated and converted into a
showroom for exclusive display of all the products made by inmates of Model
Jail. This is another attempt to showcase and recognize various products made
by the inmates to the civil society at large. The showroom will also have a
separate section for display of products made by inmates of Punjab, Haryana,
Himachal and Delhi Prisons in due course of time. The Showroom was inaugurated
by Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. Manoj Parida on 21th February, 2019 in the presence of Principal Secretary, Prison Sh. Arun Kumar
Gupta, DGP/UT, Chandigarh Sh. Sanjay Baniwal and IG/Prisons Dr. O.P. Mishra and
other Senior Officers of Chandigarh Administration.
