Over 200 participating at 31st CII Regional WorkSkills Competition

Confederation of Indian Industry organised the three-day 31st Regional WorkSkills Competition in 23 specified engineering trades/skills at the National Skills Training Institute (NSTI), Ludhiana and Govt Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Ludhiana, today. Around 200 Participants from various trades are participating in this three day competition. The Regional and National WorkSkills Competition is recognised by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India and NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). This annual event has received tremendous support from Indian Industry and Institutions with an enthusiastic participation by skilled workers in all the specified 23 trades in which the competitions are held across the country.The participants this year are from Denso India, Subros Ltd, Rockman Industries, Trident Group, Honda Cars, Nestle, Govt ITI, Patiala, Swaraj, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kiki Center for Technology, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki. Ms Neeru Katyal Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner & CEO, District Bureau Employment, Ludhiana, Government of Punjab was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural session today. She congratulated the participants, the technical institutes and CII for organising the competition, she added that such competition gives a boost to the Technical trade students and gives them an opportunity to showcase their skills at the regional, national and at the world levels. She also suggested that large companies should open workshops at the ITIs, which helps in providing them job opportunities. Mr Manjit Singh, Regional Director, NSTI who delivered the Special Address at the Inaugural. He added that this event is gaining lot of prominence among the industries. It started with 9 trades, now it is being conducted in more than 20 trades. NSTI, under the Ministry of Skill Development have all the word class facilities to conduct this type of event. Mr Jaswant Singh Bhattal, Prinicipal, Govt ITI, Ludhiana congratulated the participants for being part of this competition. Mr Inderjit Singh Nagpal, Past Chairman, CII Ludhiana Zonal Council & Managing Director, Haveli Ram Bansi Lal welcomed the delegates of the competition. He thanked the faculty,students, participating companies. He added that there is only one benchmark for skill workers– and that is the world standard. It is incumbent upon industry to provide refresher training to its workers from time to time to ensure that they acquire internationally benchmarked skills.
