As
a part of Diamond Jubilee Celebration year of CSIO, a seminar series comprising
talk on emerging research topics are being organized at CSIO. Prof B. R. Mehta,
Professor, Department of Physics, IIT Delhi delivered a talk on the topic
entitled "Understanding 2D-3D interfaces for solar cell and thermoelectric
applications” at 3.00 PM on 12.4.2019 in CSIO Auditorium. He said that in the
case of solar cells the interface of the junctions in the solar cell to the
leads outside is very important in determining the performance of the solar
cell and with a special design this interface can be made to contribute to the
electricity generation and increase the efficiency of the solar cell. This is
of paramount importance as the dependence on renewable clean sources of energy
is increasing day by day. Prior to this Prof. R. K. Sinha, Director, CSIO
welcomed the chief guest and said that for the good of society CSIO has
developed many technologies for the good of the society out which few notable
ones are: 6MeV Linear Accelerator for Cancer Therapy, Head up Display for
fighter aircraft and Earthquake warning system. He said that he hoped to
provide many more technological solutions for societal and strategic
applications. He said that there is a well chalked out plan to keep the pace of
development of new technology and its integration with the existing system and
new knowledge creation keeping a strong ethics foundation.
