SERVICE DELIVERY MECHANISM TO GET A BOOST AT ESTATE OFFICE: DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

The Chandigarh Administration is fully committed to provide transparent and efficient governance to the people of the City Beautiful. To ensure this, the officials periodically review the functioning of various departments to implement new measures aimed at attaining the objective. Keeping this objective in mind, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, the Deputy Commissioner-cum- Estate Officer, Chandigarh, held a meeting at DC office Chandigarh with the head of departments of Estate office. Expressing concerns over the rising number of pending files and court cases, the Estate Officer has directed the Estate branch heads to pay special attention on the work related to their respective branches. He further divulged that two Senior Assistants will be deputed for the purpose of assisting common people at the Estate Office on the reception from Monday i.e. 22nd of July. These officials will guide people visiting the office about the services they require. Besides this, the officials would also scrutinize the documents of the people and assist them in completing the same. The main feature of this initiative will be the token system so as to avoid the rush and problems such as jumping the queue. This novel initiative would support the visitors and prevent them from facing any harassment. He also divulged that a new software developed by the NIC would also be put into trial run for a period of one month from Monday to track the pendency of files henceforth. This will aid in timely disposal of files, monitoring of work done by different branches of Estate Office. Sh. Mandip Singh Brar has ordered all the officers resolve the issue of pending Court Cases and deal with the fresh cases in a timely manner. He also warned that stringent disciplinary action will be taken against negligent officers. It was also emphasized that providing hassle-free and time bound services to the people is the primary duty of every official, therefore the policy of zero tolerance towards negligence at work will be adopted. He also directed the employees to speedily dispose all the pending cases and pay special attention to the ones related to the judicial matters. Dwelling upon coordination between various branches as the key to a clean and robust governance model, the Deputy Commissioner also informed that a meeting would be held every month to review the working of various branches and departments.
