Bhavan Chandigarh Stands Tall on Her Achievement

In the
ongoing Fourth Khelo
India Youth Games held at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Panchkula, Devika
Sihag, a student of Class XII of Bhavan Vidyalaya
Chandigarh clinched the Bronze medal in Badminton in
the Singles category. This tournament has top ranking players contesting
against one another and national level player, Devika Sihag stood up to the
expectations of all. It is notable that she was selected to be part of the
Badminton Squad participating in the World School Games held in
Normandy, France this year. This feat is another credit in the
shutter’s achievements which have been exceedingly impressive over the last few
years. Devika Sihag earlier shared her message for youngsters like herself and
said "Believe in
yourself, losing and failing is not the end. We are created to endure stress
physically and mentally." She began playing at the age of 10 and has
never looked back since then. From representing Panchkula District, Devika
moved up the ranks to represent Haryana State and has been playing at the
national Level since the last year. She has also been recognised for her
achievements as part of the Khelo India Programme by the
Government of India and the Haryana Government. Recognitions have come after
years of gruelling practice for the young champion. Under the aegis of the
renowned Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, Bengaluru, Devika has
been making steady progress. Though now in the crucial class XII but due to the
steadfast support from her school Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh, and her parents,
she has been able to strike a balance between her academics and badminton. Senior
Principal Mrs. Vineeta Arora congratulated Devika on this feat and conveyed her
best wishes for further achievements in her journey ahead.
