IT Fiesta was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Computer Science and Applications of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh in collaboration with DST (Department of Science and Technology), Chandigarh Administration to promote awareness of Science and Technology amongst the youth.

   Students from 20 colleges from in and around the city participated in this event. Various competitions like Website designing, Debate, Cartooning, Software Development, Rangoli, Collage making, Software Debugging, Face Painting, Group Dance and e-Waste Modelling were held. Students enthusiastically participated in Presentation designing. There was also a dance performance which symbolized the fusion between technology and entertainment.

Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University was the Chief Guest for the event. He notified that it is the time of Artificial intelligence but do not let it overpower you. He motivated girls to excel in a versatile manner. S. Gurdev Singh Brar President SES, S. Kulbir Singh Vice President SES and S. Karandeep Singh Cheema Joint Secretary SES were the Guests of honor for the event.

   S. Kulbir Singh was there to inspire students during the Valedictory Ceremony and gave away the prizes. He congratulated College and Department for organizing such an event and stressed on the importance of such competitions. College Principal, Dr. Jatinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of Computer Department and encouraged students to participate in such events to excel in all fields of life.

    Delegation of University of Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada led by Dr Joanne MacLean, President and Vice Chancellor, UFV and accompanied by Dr. Andy Sidhu, Chancellor, UFV, Prof. Satwinder Kaur Bains, Director, South Asian Studies Institute UFV & Principal; UFV India; University Advisor, Canada-India Relations and Mr. Gurneet Singh Anand, Associate Director of UFV Chandigarh visited Panjab University(PU), here today.  The interaction meet of the delegation of UFV with Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU in the presence of senior PU officials and faculty members was to take forward the long history of collaboration between the two institutions. PU VC stated that now the collaboration has matured well over the years and in addition to the regular faculty and student exchange programmes, urged to work towards big projects by 
establishing lab/centres in the common areas with research as priority. PU VC said that the need of hour is to focus about well being of humanity. He said that there is a wide gap between haves and have nots and India being strong in demography, there is a huge number of workable manpower available in the country which can be helpful for PU and UFV to come together for unparalleled collaborations. Dr Joanne MacLean while appreciating the vast range of activities of research at PU, said that strengthening the partnership further needs to be focused. She lauded PU’s identified current areas of research and future plans – Cyber Security and 
Artificial Intelligence, Cancer Research Institute, Green Technologies, Non-Conventional Energy and Medical Devices. A pledge taking ceremony to observe “Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas (National Rededication Day) & Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)” was held today at the U.T Secretariat in the morning. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh administered the oaths to all the employees of the Secretariat. Senior officers of Chandigarh Administration & Chandigarh Police were also present during the ceremony. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) is the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Iron Man of India’s freedom struggle, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, lent his steely strength to India’s consolidation after Independence, in full measure. A new nation was born. The challenge of protecting its unity was evident. With amazing skill, the Sardar accomplished the task, and became Architect of the Unified India. On 31st October, therefore, the nation celebrates his birth anniversary as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, rejoicing over his precious legacy. As a fitting tribute to the builder of Indian unity, the day is marked by Run for Unity, March Past, Pledge ceremony to uphold the nation’s unity, Essay/Slogan/ Painting competition and seminar to highlight the Sardar’s role in India’s history. The Pledge taken on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) aims to foster and reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of our nation.

     Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas (National Rededication Day) is observed every year to pay homage to the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi who had worked dedicatedly to safeguard national integration of the country. She strived to uphold the integrity of the country till her last breath on October 31, 1984.

Sh. VP Singh Badnore inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' from Sukhna Lake Chandigarh today to mark the celebrations of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day). Hundreds of people participated in this landmark event to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Present among the galaxy of officers were Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, DGP, Sh. KK Yadav, IAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh Administration. The Run for Unity began with the March Past by Police Department, and was followed by a pledge which was administered by the Hon’ble Governor. People from all walks of life took part in the Run for Unity at the Sukhna Lake. The 3 km run initiated from Sukhna Lake, and the participants followed the route that covered Capitol Complex as well. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India was known for leading India’s freedom struggle and was influential in unifying the country. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation.

It was a small gesture by the integrators as a Diwali gift to the children who were delighted to receive it. The Interact Club of the school, which is the Rotary International’s Service Club for young people, presents innumerable opportunities for the students to experience the joy and satisfaction of selflessly spreading cheer and hope among the less privileged sections of the society. Hon’ble Minister for Education, Punjab, Sh. O.P Soni today graced the second day of Zonal Youth Festival of IKG-PTU, Jalandhar at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. S. Hardial Singh Kamboj, MLA, Rajpura; Sh. Madan Lal Jalalpur, MLA, Ghanaur; Sh. Shiv Kumar, SDM, Rajpura; DSP, Rajpura, Sh. Krishan Kumar Panthey etc were the Guests of Honour while Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function. 

    Around 5000 students of around 25 Colleges falling under 10 Districts of Punjab participated in various cultural activities of Youth Festival. Renowned Punjabi Singer Sajjan Adeeb also enthralled the audience his hit tracks. Sh. O.P. Soni congratulated the Students, Staff & Management of Aryans Group for successfully hosting the Youth Festival at Aryans Campus. He appraised the efforts made by Aryans in past also for emphasizing on Entertainment along with Education. 

     MLA Sh. Madan Lal Jalalpur while speaking on the occasion said that youth should be involved more into the co-curricular activities so that they can be involved into the mainstream of the society and can help in bringing the revolutionary change in the society. Dr.  Anshu Kataria while speaking on the occasion thanked IKG-PTU for allotting Youth fest to Aryans. He further said that Aryans would do it's best to make the fest successful. Under the Campaign Making Punjab Drug Free, Kataria appealed all the students to Be a Hero without Heroine (Drug). Second Day of youth festival observed various Cultural and Non Cultural activities including Mimicry, Mime, Skit, One Act Play, Bhangra, Indian Group Dance, Classical   Ins.(Pur.), Classical  Ins.(Non Pur.), Classical Vocal, Light Indian Vocal Solo, Folk Song, Elocution, Debate, Poem, Recitation, Rangoli, Poster  Making, Photography, Mehandi etc. On the occasion Minister also Honoured Govt. High School Sukhna Abnoo for extraordinary services to the society which was received by Sh. Chanchal Kataria, State Awardee, Muktsar Sahib, Sh. Harbans Lal, Sh. Surinder Setia, Sh.      As an initiative towards enhancement of Soft Skills and English Communication among students, free “English Communication Bridge Course” started in Home Science College today. The course is organized by the placement cell in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED). Prof Nirmal Dutt with an experience of more than 35 years in teaching English language in D.A.V. College, Chandigarh, will be mentoring the classes. Principal Prof. Sudha Katyal welcomed Professor Nirmal Dutt and addressed the students, motivating them to participate in such course. The course content included Grammar and Vocabulary, Skills in Listening, Reading and Writing the English Language, Improving pronunciation and construction of sentences. The course witnessed a huge response from Under Graduate and Post Graduate college and resident students. Exercises given by Prof. Dutt made the workshop more interesting and stimulating. Certificates will be given to all participants on successful completion of the course.

पुलिस महानिदेशक मुख्यालय  के. के. मिश्रा द्वारा आज हरियाणा पुलिस मुख्यालय सैक्टर-6 में सरदार वल्लभ भाई पटेल जिनकों लौहपुरूष भी कहा जाता है के जन्म दिवस पर सभी पुलिस अधिकारियों व कर्मचारियों को राष्ट्रीय एकता एवम् अखंडता की शपथ दिलाई गई और सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल के अमूल्य योगदान के बारे में भी बताया। यह जानकारी आज यहां हरियाणा पुलिस मुख्यालय के प्रवक्ता ने दी । उन्होंने सभी पुलिस अधिकारियों व कर्मचारियों को राष्ट्रीय एकता एवम् अखंडता की शपथ दिलायी कि मैं सत्यनिष्ठा से शपथ लेता हूँ  कि मै राष्ट्र की एकता, अखंडता और सुऱक्षा को बनाये रखने के लिये स्वयं को समर्पित करूंगा और अपने देशवासियों के बीच यह संदेष फैलाने का भी भरसक प्रयत्न करूंगा। मैं यह शपथ अपने देष की एकता की भावना से ले रहा हूँ  जिसे सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल की दूरदर्षिता एवं कार्यों द्वारा सम्भव बनाया जा सका। मैं अपने देश की आंतरिक सुरक्षा सुनिष्चित करने के लिये अपना योगदान करने का भी सत्यनिष्ठा से संकल्प करता हूँ ।

     संत निरंकारी मिशन के 71वें वार्षिक संत समागम की तैयारियों के चलते हुए संत निरंकारी आध्यात्म्कि स्थल, जी.टी. रोड, समालखा पर 70,000 पौधे लगाए गए। चंडीगढ जोन के जोनल इंचार्ज ने बताया कि इस अभियान में फाउंडेशन, संत निरंकारी सेवादल तथा संत निरंकारी मिशन के लगभग 5000 स्वयं सेवको ने योगदान दिया । जिसमें ट्राई सिटी के स्वयं सेवको ने भी हिसा लिया है । इस अभियान के आरंभिक भागीदारों में श्री रमेश कौशिक, संसद सदस्य, सोनीपत तथा संत निरंकारी चेरिटेबल फाउंडेशन के कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष परम पूज्य बिन्दिया छाबड़ा जी प्रमुख थे। इस अभियान का आयोजन हीरो-टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ग्रीन इन्डिया ड्राईव के अंतर्गत किया गया । इस अवसर पर श्री कौशिक जी ने अपने विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि एक आत्मिक प्रयास सदैव सफल रहता है और पौधा रोपण का कार्य हम सब के भविष्य के लिये है । केवल पौधा रोपण ही विशेष नहीं है बल्कि उस पौधे की देख-रेख भी अनिवार्य है । उन्होंने संत निरंकारी चैरिटेबल फाउंडेशन के इस प्रयास की सराहना की और क्षेत्र की ओर से फाउन्डेशन को धन्यवाद दिया । आदरणीय बिन्दिया छाबड़ा जी ने इस अवसर पर कहा कि बाबा हरदेव सिंह जी के पावन आशीर्वाद तथा निरंकारी सद्गुरु माता सुदीक्षा जी के आध्यात्मिक मार्गदर्शन से ही फाउंडेशन समाज की सेवा कर पा रही है। उन्होंने इस अभियान में भाग लेने वालों को दैवी गुण जैसे सहनशीलता, भाईचारा, प्रेम, परस्पर सत्कार तथा समाज की निस्वार्थ सेवा के बीज़ बौने का आह्वान किया । उन्होंने कहा कि समाज की सेवा के लिये हमें स्वयं को प्रस्तुत करना पड़ता है और केवल बातों से बात नहीं बनती । पौधा-रोपण आज के प्रदूषित वातावरण को रोकने का सर्वोत्तम उपाय है । आज मानव को न केवल बाहरी सुन्दरता बल्कि आध्यात्मिक सुन्दरता भी आवश्यक है। उन्होंने बाबा हरदेव सिंह जी के भावों को दोहराया कि ‘प्रदूषण अंदर हो या बाहर, दोनों ही हानिकारक है’  यह उल्लेखनिय है कि विशेष वृक्षा-रोपण अभियान के अंतर्गत, फाउंडेशन ने करीब 10 लाख पौधों का देश के विभिन्न भागों में रोपण किया है जिनमें करीब 70 प्रतिशत सफल रहे हैं । इस अवसर पर टाइम्स ऑफ इन्डिया तथा हीरों ग्रुप के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी तथा निकटवर्ती गांव के सरपंच भी उपस्थित थे ।

This Judo tournament was held at Judo Hall, Sector -34, Chandigarh organized by education department Chandigarh. Medals Detail :- Gold Medal :- Aman won gold medal in weight category of 45 Kg. Silver Medal :- 1) Gourav won silver medal in 40Kg weight catagory.2) Rohit won Silver medal in 55 Kg weight catagory. 3) Anurag Kumar won silver medal 73Kg weight catagory. Chandigarh has bagged the National Award and has been accorded 1st rank (among Union Territories) for maximum improvement in Infant Mortality Rate today at the 5th National Summit – “Good and Replicable Practices  in Public Healthcare Systems in India 2018” at Kaziranga, Assam. Sh. Jagat Parkash Nadda, Hon'ble Union Health Minister of India presented the award to Dr. G Dewan, Mission Director cum Director Health, U.T., Chandigarh in the  presence of Sh. Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam and other distinguished personalities of the Government of Assam & Union Health Secretary of India, Smt. Preeti Sudan. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has organized the National Summit on “Good & Replicable Practices & Innovations in Public Health Care System in India” to capture and share the best practices and innovations at various levels of health services delivery and program implementation under the National Health Mission (NHM). With an objective to share and learn from the fine practices and innovations implemented by different States/UTs and organizations, these summits work towards addressing various health challenges and managing public health programs.

Talent Hunt 2018, organised for the students of classes XI and XII, was a mesmerising showcase of talent and was a great success as participants sparkled the stage with their solo as well as group performances. The students from all the sections participated in the show and put up spirited performances showcasing their wide ranging talents in singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and dramatic interpretation. The auditorium reverberated with the thunderous applause on the melodious renditions, electrifying dances and the students’ dexterity over the drums and acting skills. The winners are as follows:
