A reliable, economically competitive and environmentally sustainable electricity system is the cornerstone of a modern Indian society. The Fourth Industrial Revolution builds on the digital revolution and combines multiple technologies that are leading to unprecedented paradigm shifts in the economy, society and for individuals.
CSIR CSIO Chennai Centres “Pump Efficiency Monitoring System” is one such technology which will serve as a revolution in the Indian smart grid industry. The developed system uses state of the art technology for simultaneous scanning of pump efficiency and has extended provision to send this data over wired connection for remote monitoring. The conventional method of calculating pump efficiency off-line is by taking measurements of flow, electrical power consumption, head and the pipe dimensions with different instruments. PEMS is an on-line pump efficiency-monitoring tool. The PEMS developed by CSIO Chennai uses the principle of thermodynamics. The pump losses are calculated from measurement of inlet and outlet fluid temperature and the dynamic head developed by the pump. Pump Efficiency is then calculated. By monitoring electrical power input to the motor, the pump flow rate is calculated.
The technology know how of the meter was transferred to M/s Hexmoto from Mysore in the presence of Director CSIR-CSIO, Prof. R. K. Sinha. It was signed by Dr. Amod Kumar, Head BIPP from CSIO side and Mr. L. V. Prabhu, Managing Director, Hexmoto on behalf of Hexmoto. CSIR - CSIO Chennai Centre is currently focused in the area of energy instrumentation by taking and executing the projects on energy efficiency, energy monitoring, remote monitoring systems and renewable energy. CSIOs Chennai centre has developed and technology transferred many industrial solutions like Energy Management System, Pump and Motor Efficiency Monitoring System, Power Quality Analyser, Portable Energy Audit tool etc. in the last two years.
Apart from R&D, CSIR-CSIO Chennai Centre also provides calibration, testing, energy auditing and HRD services to more than 500 pan Indian industries. I will be grateful if you give coverage to our endeavour in your esteemed media
