Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab
University, Chandigarh interacted with the Fellows of
National Academy of Sciences in his office, here today.While addressing, PU VC
said that they are the Brand Ambassador of the Panjab University contributing
in a big way for the growth of PU. PU VC said that with the cooperation of all,
the various projects in PU can be taken to the next level in an accelerated
mode to make a place as a global player. He informed all present
about his various interactions in the recent past with the Union
Ministers and the Chief Ministers, who assured of all possible help
to PU. He further informed that PU has got a Chair in the name
of Shrimanta Sankardeva Chair for which the Govt. of Assam had sent a proposal
to release Rs. 5 crore. The Fellows present shared their
views about writing of projects, working on thrust areas and
innovative ideas. They also urged to strengthen the interdisciplinary
approach and to integrate the science and research programmers. Deliberating
on various issues, it was considered appropriate by the august house that to
work in togetherness and to inculcate a sense of belongingness for the
University it was the requirement of time to work with open mind
for integration and consolidation for the growth of this historic
University which had a learned faculty. Prof. K.N. Pathak, former Vice
Chancellor suggested that academic audit was the need of the hour
and that there should not be any dilution in academic standard and research
scholars should be encouraged to write good papers. Other dignitaries
present commended about high traditions of Panjab University and
for creation of a central facility of costly equipments which could be made available
at one place and can be used by other departments besides rationalization of service
charges. The meeting was attended by Prof. R.P. Bambah Former Vice
Chancellor, Prof. K.N. Pathak former Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.J. Hans Gill,
Prof. Sudesh Khanduja, Prof. Madhu Raka, Prof. A.K. Bhandari, Prof.
S.K. Tomar, Prof. Gurmeet Kaur, Prof. D.V.S. Jain, Prof. K.K.
Bhasin, Prof. Satish Chander Verma, Prof. Rakesh Tuli and Prof. Dinesh Khurana
