Basant Panchami Celebrated at PU

Students of Centre for Human Rights and
Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated Basant Mela, here today in the
front lawn of Emerging Areas Building. Prof Karamjeet Singh, Registrar,
inaugurated the same. A fund raising
event was also organised by various NGOs. NGOs like Chhoti si Asha and Prabh
Asra set up the stalls and sold the hand-made materials by the organisation.
Parshada and Peedus people set up an awareness stall where they spread the
information about adopting street dogs and organic food respectively. A photo
booth was also set up by putting up a swing to mark the celebration. Alongwith
this kite flying competition was organised where students from the University
participated enthusiastically. First prize was given to Faiz Ahmed from Department
of Economics, second prize was given to Ratandeep from Women Studies Department
and third prize was bagged by Amrinder Singh from Defence Studies Department. Further,
the students of the centre put up food stall including Gol Gappe and Sweet Rice
stalls. The event was a huge success with students and faculty from various
departments of the University participating enthusiastically.
