Today as part of a “Thanks Giving Week’
promoted by an NGO-Yuvsatta, over 150 Peace Club students of Carmel Convent
School went to City Forest (Nagar Van), Chandigarh and presented ‘Thank You’
greeting cards to Forest Department personnel’s taking care of beautiful green
and serene forest amidst the hustle and bustle of city behind Sukhan Lake. Similarly,
50 girls associated with Kitabghar-the children’s learning centre of Yuvsatta
at Bapudham Colony, Sector 26, went to the Police Post of Sector 26 to present
‘Thank U’ greeting cards to the police personnel’s posted there. Addressing the students of Carmel Convent
Mr. Kulbhushan Kanwar, environmentalist gave detailed information about City Forest (Nagar
Van) to the young ones about the bird-park and nature trails there development
by Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration. A
biodiversity hunt was also organized on the occasion with the students
identifying maximum number of trees, birds, butterflies and animal species
present in the area. Such initiatives “allows the community and the law enforcement
agencies the opportunity to come together and show support to the many men and
women who keep our families and communities safe,” shared Sister Mary Supreeta the School
Principal of Carmel Convent School. ‘I
think this is a great opportunity for young students & we the teachers to
thank our Chandigarh Police officers, who made our daily life and community
safe’ added Preeti Swami the Youth for Peace Club teacher in charge of the
School. ‘This is about the thousands of people who never make headlines. This
about the people keeping our streets and surroundings safe and sound every
shift’ expressed Pramod Sharma, the coordinator of Yuvsatta.
