Congress Lok Sabha candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal announced that Cooperative
Housing Societies for Advocates and other professionals will be built, once he
gets voted to power. The
announcement was made when the former Union Minister went around the premises
of Punjab & Haryana High Court, which he called as a place close to his
heart owing to his serving the High Court Bar Association as its Secretary
once. “Even today in my bio-data, I proudly mention that I once held the
position of High Court Bar Association’s Secretary. Visiting this place is akin
to going on a pilgrimage for me” said Bansal, adding, “If someone asks me is
there anything I miss today, I say yes, it’s my days in the High Court.” The
four-time MP also took a look at the make-shift chambers for young lawyers and
later in his address announced that once voted to power, he will get new
chambers built both here and the district court. Bansal also promised to get in
place a scheme for providing some form of social security to the lawyers.
Another assurance he gave was to build a multi-level parking both at High Court
and District Court. He also talked about the immense need to curb the traffic
problem in Chandigarh for which he said, Metro is the only solution.“It is not
just me who is advocating Metro, it was the decision of the experts that out of
various means of transport, Metro would suit the needs of Chandigarh the best,”
he said. He
also took a jibe at Kirron Kher for snubbing his genuine query to know as to
what exactly does the BJP want to introduce in Chandigarh – Mono-rail or Sky
bus – to which she said, ‘It’s none of his (Bansal’s) business.’ Among those
who were present at the High Court along with Bansal, included Anmol Ratan
Sidhu, DPS Randhawa, Vikas Malik, Rohit Sood, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Rachna Rudra
among others.
