Himachal CM urges entrepreneurs to invest in the State, and prioritizes strengthening state’s strategic infrastructure also .

While presiding over the Special Interactive Session with CII Council Members of Northern States, organized in Shimla, Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh said that the State Government is committed to providing best environment for the investors to invest in Himachal Pradesh to make the state an industrial hub of the country. The Chief Minister said that despite the topographical constraints, the state has emerged as a favourite destination for the investors.
       He said that the State Government aims to upgrade the State’s connectivity with the plains to give a boost to the industry & tourism.  The CM said that during the short period of the present government, we are working on many things, including policy revamping to ensure ample opportunities for industries & tourism. He added that the State Government has also made fresh provisions to for the industry sector so that the companies can return to the ‘power state.’ The CM said that the government was working to resolve the infrastructure problem and increase state’s connectivity through rail & air. “We have transformed the VVIP helicopter service into heli-taxi service, accessible to all. The state has three airports but we are trying for a full-scale airport at Kangra,” he said. He added that the state government accords top priority to the Tourism sector and special emphasis is being given to strengthen infrastructure in the state. He added that despite being a small state, Himachal Pradesh is number 1 in many aspects like it is the least corrupt state in the country. Moreover, the bureaucracy and political leadership in the state is always open for meetings to chart out the growth agenda of the state. Meetings have given solutions to many problems and the State Government believes that the every problem can be solved by sitting across the table. The State Government is working towards exploring possibilities for expanding rail connectivity, which was the need of the hour.
    Earlier, while delivering his address at the session, Mr Sachit Jain, Chairman, CII Northern Region and Vice Chairman, Vardhman Special Steels Pvt Ltd, said that the Regional Council Meeting of CII Northern Region is happening in Shimla after a long period of 10 years. Many people from outside the state have come and are now looking at the State from a different perspective, seeking investment opportunities in the state.  He said that being a landlocked state and difficult terrain, the road & rail infrastructure in the state could go a long way in sustenance of industry in the state. “There is an urgent need to empower the youth of the State with skill sets which would make them more employable & productive in their work environment,” he said. CII proposed to partner the Government of himachal Pradesh for setting up a multi-skill institute for the youth of the state in Dharamshala. He also invited the Chief Minister for CII Agro Tech which is scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from 1-4 December.
    Mr IMJS Sidhu, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh delivered the formal Vote of Thanks. “I thank the Chief Minister for his personal presence at the occasion which shows his commitment towards industrialization.”
