Sanskrit Alumni Meet

An annual alumni meet was organized for
the first time by the Department of Sanskrit and Dayanand Chair for Vedic
studies at the Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University. Former students, research
scholars and teachers attended the meet. Many of them shared their personal
experiences they had during their time at the university, and their views
regarding Sanskrit studies. After a welcome note Prof. V K Alankar, the
Chairperson of Sanskrit Dept. and Dayanand Chair toled that the Sanskrit
Department and Dayanand Chair, both the departments have produced more than 300 Ph.D. It was also
pointed out that more than 30% Sanskrit Students are working in Colleges and
Universities. After a vote of thanks given by the chairperson the meet was
followed by lunch. The participants expressed their desire that such meets be
organized every year. More than fifty alumni participated in the event.
