BEST RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION AWARD CEREMONY HELD AT PU

Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh organized 3rd Research Award Ceremony, here today under the aegis of Smt. Prem Lata and Professor D V S Jain Research Foundation. Prof. Raghuram Rao, Director, NIPER, Mohali in his address lauded the efforts of the University and the department for taking initiative for these awards. He said that such awards should also be organized for the research scholars and for the students. He bestowed upon the Best Researchers and Best Publication awardees. Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University in his address congratulated the awardees, and exhorted other faculty members and young researchers to carry out meaningful research, not only for wider scientific reach but also for societal impact.  Dr Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, Professor, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), was bestowed upon with Professor D V S Jain Research Award, while Professor Sushil K Kansal from SSB University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology was awarded with Smt. Prem Lata Jain Research Award (2017).  The Best Publication awardees were Dr Palani Natarajan (Chemistry), Dr. Navneet Kaur (Assoc. Prof.; Chemistry), Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma (Chemistry), Prof. B. S. Bhoop (UIPS) and Dr. Savita Chaudhary, Chemistry. On this occasion, Prof. Bhoop and Prof. Kansal presented an overview of their respective research works. A four-volume book series on “Emerging Trends in NanoBioMedicine” with Prof. Bhoop as the Chief Editor and published by the prestigious publishers, Taylor & Francis, USA, was released by the dignitaries present. The four volumes include namely, NanoBiomaterials, NanoBioEngineering, Nutraceuticals, and NanoAgroceuticals &  Phytochemicals. This four-volume book series comprises of 57 chapters contributed by experts from 16 countries across the globe. Earlier during the event, Prof. K. N. Singh, Chairman, Department of Chemistry, briefed about the objectives of Smt. Prem Lata and Professor D V S Jain Research Foundation. This foundation has been created based on the endowment fund donated by Professor D.V.S. Jain. The main objective of this foundation is to promote and nurture scientific research in Panjab University. The foundation has initiated scientific programs such as Best Researcher Awards, Best Publication Awards, Bright-Begin Research Grant, Conceptual Consolidation in Innovative Areas Lecture Series, Fellowships for research scholars and Book fund.
