BVC PAYS A RIVETING MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO LEGEND LATA MANGESHKAR

An enthralling tribute was paid to legendary singer and Bharat
Ratna awardee Lata Mangeshkar (1929 – 2022) by the Cultural Committee,
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra at their campus. Students and
teachers of Junior and Senior schools came together and paid a fitting tribute
to the legend by organizing this beautiful evening. General (Retd.) V.P
Malik, former Chief of Army Staff graced the occasion as the Chief Guest He
was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Malik. Shri. Vivek Atrey was
invited as the guest of honour. Shri R.K Saboo, Chairman and
guiding mentor, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, also graced the occasion. Honorary
Secretary Mr. Madhukar Malhotra, Mr. Manmohan Kohli, Vice-Chairman, Cultural
Committee, Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Sr. Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Ms.
Inderpreet Kaur, Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Chandigarh, Ms. Suparna
Bansal, Vice Principal, Ms. Soma Mukhopadyay, Principal Junior wing, Kendra
committee members and other faculty members and students were also part of this
event. The event traced the journey of the legendary singer through the
various ups and downs of her life. Various incidents and anecdotes from her
life were shared with the audience. Enthralling the audience with their soulful
rendition the singers sang numerous songs sung by her during her
journey. Chief Guest General Malik appreciated the efforts put in by the
school by uphold the legacy of the singer, and spoke of how the songs helped
him reminisce the tales of valour of the Indian Army. Shri R.K
Saboo, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan also spoke of his meetings with the
great singer and complimented the Music Department and school choir for their
heart-rending performance. Mrs. Vineeta Arora, Sr. Principal, Bharatiya Vidya
Bhavan concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
