Second
Innings Association (SIA) welcomed the large number of tri-city senior citizens
and other dignitaries including the
youngsters who came to attend the meeting. President – Sh.
R K Garg briefed the audience about the
programme and then the Patron Sh. S S Lamba took over and discussed about the
solar & photovoltaic energy.
The UT administration issued a notification in May 2016 and asked all residents
owning houses more than one kanal
to fix up the solar panels in their houses within 2 years, last date being 18th
May 2018, noncompliance of which will be
treated as bye-law violation. Mr. Lamba further explained the difficulties
being faced by the
residents/owners in fixing the costly solar panels and batteries which will
cost anything between 3 lacs to 8 lacs
depending upon the size of the house. The administration was urged to
rationalise the policy and making it
voluntary till the administration is able to put its house in order. There
after Mr. D S Oberoi discussed about
the health problems of the senior citizens. Professor Bhupinder discussed about
the road safety measures. Then President Sh. R K Garg addressed
the audience regarding the irregularities of contract entered into Arya Infra Toll and Municipal
Corporation, Chandigarh. He pointed out that tender and various paper work was not done diligently and if
challenged in the court of law it will fall flat. He also disclosed details of contract entered between Lion Services
and Municipal Corporation which is costing Rs. 4 crore a month for cleaning of southern part of Chandigarh
by using manual labour and GIS machine. The terms and conditions fishy manner. He also discussed about the property issues
faced by senior citizens and invited suggestions to bring quality life to all the aged senior citizens. He also called
all the audience to be active in dealing with the problems faced by the residents of tri-city particularly the
single old ladies.Thereafter author and motivational speaker Sh. Vivek Atray,
IAS (Retd.) addressed the senior citizens and
motivated them to lead a better, happy and satisfied life, pointing out the
state of society these days. He also
discussed the relationship between the young and elder generations and
suggested ways and means to achieve
cordial relations in the families.The meeting ended with thanks to all the
guests and SIA decided to send representation on the above issues to the Chandigarh Administration for
necessary resolution.
