हिंदी विभाग में प्रेमचंद जयंती 31 को

पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय के हिंदी विभाग में मंगलवार 31 जुलाई को भारत के महान कथाकार मुंशी प्रेमचंद की जयंती पर एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया जाएगा । हिंदी विभाग के अध्यक्ष डॉ गुरमीत सिंह ने बताया कि इस वर्ष इस कार्यक्रम में विशेष रूप से प्रेमचंद के जीवन और साहित्य पर आधारित एक प्रश्नोत्तरी प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जा रहा है जिसमें विभिन्न विभागों व कॉलेजों से भी टीमें शिरकत करेंगी । कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि कुलपति प्रोफेसर राज कुमार होंगे जबकि जामिया मिलिया नई दिल्ली के हिंदी विभाग के वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर महेंद्रपाल शर्मा प्रेमचंद पर विशेष व्याख्यान देंगे। डॉ गुरमीत सिंह ने बताया कि इसी के साथ प्रेमचंद की प्रसिद्ध कहानी नमक का दारोगा पर गुलजार द्वारा निर्मित लघु फिल्म और प्रेमचंद पर डाक्यूमेंटरी की स्क्रीनिंग भी कार्यक्रम के दौरान की जाएगी । यह कार्यक्रम सांध्यकालीन विभाग के सभागार में आयोजित किया जाएगा ।

    Dept of Hindi, Panjab University will be celebrating the birth anniversary of the acclaimed novelist Munshi Prem Chand on 31^st July 2018. The event will have a special lecture, movie screening, documentary screening  and a quiz on life and works of Munshi Prem Chand. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University will be the chief guest for the occasion and Prof Mahendra Pal Sharma from Jamia Millia New Delhi will deliver a special lecture on the life and works of Prem Chand.

Dr Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Department of Hindi, informed "We are looking forward to an event that will not only pay a tribute to the great writer but also help students in gaining more knowledge on the life and works of Munshi Prem Chand. There will be a quiz on the life and works of Prem Chand which will see participation from various Departments and colleges" He also informed that there will be a screening of a short movie, ‘Namak Ka Daroga’ directed by Gulzar and based on the acclaimed work of Prem Chand. Also the Department will screen a documentary on the life and works of Munshi Prem Chand. The event will be held at evening studies dept auditorium at PU.
