Awareness campaign on World Hepatitis Day at PU

The students and
research scholars of the Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University carried
out an awareness campaign on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day on July 28,
2018 in University campus. Professor Archana Bhatnagar, Chairperson of the
department had organised this activity under the Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat
Mission. "Awareness about global burden of this viral disease needs to be
disseminated to common people, so we took up this task as an opportunity to
educate public about Hepatitis, its prevention and control measures", she
said. A large population is living with this infection, which is also
responsible for liver cancer in many cases. Hence, it is important to bring
this silent epidemic to light and educate the people about "Testing an treating
Hepatitis", the theme of this year, as notified by World Health
Organisation.
