Govt. Model High School Sector 38-D Chandigarh
kicked off Tree Plantation Campaign. Chief Guest of the occasion was Mr. Arun
Sood, Hon’ble Former Mayor of U.T. Chandigarh & Councillor of Ward No. 8
and Special Guest was Dr. Neena Thakur, Sub Divisional Engineer, Horticulture
Department U.T. Chandigarh. Hon’ble guests & students of school planted
various types of saplings like neem, tulsi, aamla, behera and different types
of ferns, gulmohar. The Headmaster Mr. Madan Lal, in his address, laid emphasis
on the importance of trees and plants. He encouraged students to plant a tree
on their birthday. He motivated students while sharing that planting a sapling
yields many benefits like — it recharged ground water, prevented soil erosion
and made homes for many birds. The senior teacher of the school Mrs. Sanjogita,
also appreciated the efforts made by students to save the mother earth, she
also stressed upon the importance of forests, as trees are the lungs of our
world.
