Government Model High School RC II Dhanas earlier this year identified gaps and weakness earlier this year in education of students with the help of Social Substance Group. Major gaps were found in Languages, exposure, and resources. Since then they have joined hands to fill those and are consistently working to fill those holes by organizing multiple events, workshops, seminars, remedial classes, and channeling resources. In same order the group organized series of events on Nov 17, 2018 at the school benefiting hundreds of students and faculty members in process. The Group in collaboration with Junior Einstein, an NGO run by students from PEC, Chandigarh organized Thematic Academic Events including Poster Making, Quiz, and Essay Writing for students of class 6th and 7th. The outcome surprised most of the volunteer who didn’t expect students to be such receptive for learning. As per Ayush Mathur (Secretary, JE), Aashish Monga(Joint Secretary, JE) who led about forty volunteers to handles multiple batches and activities concurrently apprised that the results of competitions would be announced on Monday but the zeal was amazing. Volunteer from Junior Einstein in collaboration with Social Substance would be holding remedial classes also at the school to benefit students of the school academically. The above can’t be achieved with Ill health and that is one of the spotted problems in students of the school. To counter this Social Substance has been getting various resource persons on board and organizing lectures and talks from time to time. This time it was Mr. Inder Sandhu from Peedu’s People who himself has an exemplary health. He taught students of Class 10th for about an hour in an interactive session and it was amazing experience to break some myths and developing scientific attitude among the children. The music of claps was louder in appreciation than introduction. Mrs. Ravinder Kaur appreciated and apprised that her goal this year is to better results of previous years and get rid of social ailments including drugs and child labour by bringing in such resource persons. She appreciated Dr. Arun Bansal, Social Substance for brining such dynamic energy in execution and wished that association get strengthened day by day to help more and more students.
