The
Advisor to Administrator Sh Manoj K Parida today visited the Le Corbusier
Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum. Deepika Gandhi, Director Le
Corbusier Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum briefed the Advisor about
the historic significance of the Corbusier Centre as the old Architects’ office
where Le Corbusier and his team worked. The Advisor found the exhibits
outlining the planning and creation of Chandigarh very informative and
interesting. The Advisor then visited the Architecture Museum where the
Chief Architect and Deepika Gandhi briefed him about the priceless documents,
drawings and models that trace the history of Chandigarh from its very
inception to the development of the city in the 1980s. He found the Edict of Chandigarh and furniture
designed by Pierre Jeanneret particularly intriguing.The Advisor also
appreciated the efforts taken to preserve the heritage of the city.
