Election Commission of India conducted training on Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) in Chandigarh today. Election Commission of India has developed ESMS for reporting seizures on real time basis made by various enforcement agencies such as State Police Department, State Excise Department, Income Tax Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, State Commercial Department, SGST, CGST, DRI, ED, RPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP, Department of Post, FSs, SSTs etc. The Commission has implemented ESMS successfully during General Elections to Legislative Assemblies of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana concluded in December, 2023 and is going to be implemented in forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha to be held in 2024.Through this module, data of intercepted/seized items like cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, freebies etc. will be digitalized from the field directly. The experts of ECI imparted training on ESMs to CEOs, DEOs, SLMTs/ NLMTs, Nodal Officers of enforcement agencies of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh. The training was held in physical as well as virtual mode. Trainees of Chandigarh attended the training physically and trainees of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh attended virtually. The role of CEOs, DEOs, State Nodal Officers, District Nodal Officers, FSTs, SSTs, Banks etc was explained in detail for implementing this module. Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Chandigarh was present in the training. The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir , Ladakh and HImachal Pardesh also joined the training through online mode.
