The Department of Gandhian & Peace Studies, Panjab
University, Chandigarh organized a two Special Lectures. Dr. Ashu Pasricha,
Chairperson of the Department welcomed both the Speakers (Dr.
Pankan Arora and Professor Harish Thakur) and participants and
introduced to the audience. Dr. Pankaj Arora spoke on “Role of
Communication in Hospitals”. He focused on how communication is
very important to bring out good relationship between doctors and other
para-medical staff along with the patients. He even highlighted hardly patients get
4 minutes to express their ailments to the doctors and it depends upon the
doctor to doctor how he behaves with the patients and how he
tackles with each and every patient. Dr Pankaj also explained different ways to
tackle the patients queries specially in Emergency cases. Hospital
administration has deputed persons at Emergency/Trauma Centres to
give the details about the patient’s condition to the attendants as the number
of doctors is less in comparison to increasing number of patients. Lot of
curious questions were raised regarding the management of the overincreasing
patients at OPD and Dr. Arora tried to give satisfactory reply to the queries.Professor
Harish Thakur spoke on “Indian Diaspora, Roma Rights and Multiculturalism in Europe”.
In his talk, he talked about the meaning and importance of Multiculturalism and
How is it different from Europe. He also highlighted on the Gandhian
perspective of nationalism. The Chairperson, Department of Gandhian
and Peace Studies & Honorary Director, Gandhi Bhawan, Dr. Ashu
Pasricha, extended her warm thanks to the Speakers and the attendees.
