The dates for the scheduled productions are 21st and 22nd November.
The productions are directed by two students of M.A. II Atulya Manoj and Ankit
Singh. The productions are based on Vijaydan Detha’s ‘Kenchuli’ directed by
Ankit Singh and ‘Shadows’ based on Manto’s ‘Nangi Awazein’ and ‘Darpok’,
directed by Atulya Manoj . All the students of the theatre depart participle in
these productions. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar, will be the Chief Guest
for the opening Show. “ Live performances are an integral and exciting part of
our department’s academic curriculum. Student Productions are the outlet for
the creation of new innovations in the department. Students are able to apply
knowledge and techniques learned in the classroom to rehearsal and play production.
Students are encouraged to express themselves through directing, acting, design
and production in a collective experimental atmosphere. Through these
productions students are given the opportunity to think imaginatively in order
to achieve their vision for the creative journey from the text to performance.
They also learn various life skills. Our goal is to provide more opportunities
for students as these productions are designed to be the practical extension of
our students work in the classroom and we are reliant on the talents and
energies of our students to be involved in almost every aspect of the productions.”-
Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Chairperson, Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University,
