Two day International Seminar on "Guru Nanak DevJi’s Legacy : Multi Dimensions l Perspective" to
commemorate the 550th Parkash Purav of
Guru Nanak DevJi organized by the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies,
Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Chandigarh Sahitya Academy under the
Chairmanship and seminar director Prof Shankar jiJha ( DUI ) and Dr.
Jaspal Kaur Kaang, academic in-charge respectively. Bhai Gobind Singh Ji Longowal ,
President Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Com. {SGPC} Sri Amritsar gave an overview
about the Life, Journey and Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and appreciated the
efforts made by the Department to organize the seminar. He donated 5 lakh rupees to the University
for Academic Research in Religious Studies. Dr. Roop Singh Chief Secretary SGPC
also spoke about Guru Nanak Devji’s vision. The Vice Chancellor of Panjab
University Prof. Raj Kumar in his address informed that in the year 2019, various events will be dedicated to the
celebration of 550th Parkash Purav of
Guru Nanak Dev Ji apart from
release of books on the same. He also assured of providing necessary funds for
the same. Dr. Sarbjinder Singh, Chairman Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Punjabi
University Patiala talked about the ideals of Guru Nanak DevJi. Prof. Jaspal
Singh Ex VC, Punjabi University Patiala, gave a detailed account about the rich
Heritage of Guru Nanak DevJi. Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann, Director Global
Institute of Sikh Studies, USA also expressed his views. On the occasion, two
Books based on the Seminar held by the Department in 2016, were released by the
dignitaries present. Eminent Professors, research scholars, academicians and
students from the universities all over Punjab were present for the seminar
today. Dr. Karamjit Singh Registrar of Panjab University presented a vote of
thanks. PU Fellows, Deans, PU Officials, Faculty, academicians, researcher and
students were present on the occasion.
